And happy birthday for the 11th Muvver! ;D
crystal, what great news! As long as he hasn't started booting like you're a football then it's all good!
Kim! Great to "see" you, but can't work out where all that time went that Morgan is almost 2! Any more pics to post of the little monkey would be great when you get a chance.

because i can life and work in my hometown was just boring - living somewhere else and meet new people is much more exiting. oh, and they pay me much better here and have lower taxes.... ...and great scenery! Welcome to my side of the world! (well, at the moment anyway ;D). crystal - can you share if the rucksack is pink or blue yet?

David's back!
Jennifer, wait til herrbert sees you're going to Spain - let the suggestions flow!
Commie - NZ?!!! Nice one! Curious, why?
Jules - glad you're finally out of Toronto (aka Brussels of Canada!)
crystal - how's mini-crystal? Any kicking yet?
Patrick - just when we think you've gone...there you are!
Doug - I thought you were in Europe now too. Did we get the dates mixed up?
Someone I haven't "seen" for a while - our illustrious leader Kim! ;D

I'm still here! Albeit spasmodically as work is taking up valueable GFE time at the moment!
I'd noticed that the Boards were pretty quiet, even with the usual queries - must be our shoulder season. ;D
I hope the Madrid plans work out herrbert, I know how much you miss it.

Maybe we should have a section on "Backpacking with Baby"!

Muvver, I loved Hawaii (haven't been for many years though) the 2 times I've been and was particularly taken with Kauai (some say Kawaii) and Maui - Kauai is gorgeous and small adn Maui has a very chilled feel, made me want to take up surfing! I also spent time on the Big Island (Hawaii) and on Oahu and I hear Molokai (despite being a former leper colony) is great for a relaxed (is there any other way in Hawaii??!) holiday (donkey rides included). I wanted to go but ran out of time - still on the list!
The first time I went to the Big Island was just before the volcano erupted (what is it with me and erupting volcanoes?!!) - it literally exploded the day we were leaving and we'd been on the slopes the day before - damn hiking parents! The next time I went back it was amazing to see what had changed on the island due to the lava flows - whole parks covered, significant sites buried. Kauai is quite green, has great (uncrowded) beaches and amazing mountains with views that go on forever.
Let us know where you decide to go.

Happy birthday to you Patrick! I know you're not around all the time, but I know you lurk occasionally so hopefully you see this message on/near your birthday. Hope it's a great day!

living in this suburban nightmare Ah yes, that I do remember about Toronto...and the giant parking lot that is the 407 (or is that 401, or 409, or 427 or just anything towards Missasauga??!! Only good thing to come out of Missasauga is the band Hidden Cameras!).

They're baaaaaaaaaaack! Wow, there are two names I haven't see in ages! Welcome back folks!
I know about the busy stuff - am about to disappear into a vortex of extreme business in a month and probably won't surface until October - but I'm almost addicted to GFE so will try to visit often.
Nice to "see" you both again! ;D

I guess I'd be looking at where in SA - I have a lot of friends from SA and all give different information on each region. The townships on the edge of Cape Town are amazing places to experience and really open your eyes to the issues facing all of Africa.
Cambodia is still pretty "untouched" in terms of tourism (yes I know a lot of people go there now, but it's still not full of hoards like, say Europe.) and you have a whole other language to deal with, which is always part of the travel. Yes, SA has 11 official languages, but English is widely spoken.
I guess it also depends on the programmes offered and which appeals to you more in terms of helping out.
Congrats on (almost) graduating - hoorah! ;D
