Sorry, I forgot one place that we're going to try and get to which is Cinque Terre. Is it typical to stay in each of the 5 towns and stay 1 night in each?

Oh so close, but not quite, to 100. Oh well, I guess we can deal with that. Nevertheless...
As many of you may have figured out from various posts throughout these boards, my wife and I are doing a 3 month trip starting March 11th to do a lot of Western Europe backpacking.
We'll be staying mostly in hostels, with the occaisional B&B when we can afford it to still get some privacy here and there (not to mention double rooms). Below is our tentative list of cities that we'd like to go to, but we haven't gotten far enough to say how many days (so I'll just estimate what we may be leaning towards). Any input is MUCH APPRECIATED as we've never done this before!!
Cities to visit (somewhat in order, but can be moved around as there's no "clear" round path we can take).
London (3 days) Amsterdam (7 days) Brugge (4 days) Berlin (5 days) Prague (4 days) Vienna (3 days) Munich (4 days) Gimmelwald (4 days) Venice (3 days) Florence (7 days) Rome (8 days) Athens (1 Night) Greek Islands (8 Nights) Nice (4 days) Barcelona (5 days) Madrid (4 days) Lisbon (4 days) Paris (7 days) Amsterdam (5 days) Dublin (5 days) Edinburgh (4 days) London (4 days)
The number of days doesn't add up (I don't think) because I just through out ball park figures and really have no idea as to what amount of time may be appropriate for each place. We know for sure that we want to spend a good amount of time in Amsterdam at first, Rome, Florence and Paris. We'll then be making a stop back at Amsterdam about 3/4 of the way through the trip for a buddy's birthday there. I'm thinking we'll probably just buy a round trip ticket from London to Amsterdam and and use the first leg at the beginning and the final one to get back to Ireland and the UK.
What do you all think of the route (as far as order of the cities) and would you change any of the days (ie: one place may not have enough for 4 days) stayed or if you would drop a city and add another altogether.
Again, All input is welcomed, THANKS!!
Chris and Leah
P.S. I've seen topics about this covered and am still puzzled. If we're wanting to have Athens and the Greek Islands in our trip, is the best way to just take the ferry from Brindisi (sp?) to Corfu and the same going back or would we be better off flying. Cost isn't too much of an issue as we get planned, but will be once we're on our trip so something like that we'll probably want to book ahead for. Maybe taking the ferry there for the experience (and to see Corfu) and then booking a one way out to some other city. Any suggestions?

As I'll be traveling with my wife, I was wondering how the hostels handle this typically? We're both under 26 so age won't be an issue (not that it really would be anyway, but still). We'll get double rooms when possible (obviously not in UK or the other expensive places) but when not, do most hostels have multi-gender dorms where we can each grab a bunk and not feel separated?
As mentioned in my entry post in the lounge, we'll be travelling in March for 3 months and will be traveling nearly everywhere we can!
Let me know what we should expect so we can rest a little easy and know what to prepare for, thanks guys!!

Other than airports, though, is locking your bag suggested? We have those little combo locks that Magellans has for our zippers. Is it pretty much not needed to have your backpack locked or is it just the flights that don't welcome it?

Hey All,
Tell me if I'm going overboard here, but I'm wondering if any of you would comment on the amount of clothes I plan to bring for the 3 month trip. Based on the dates (March 10-June 18) and the location (Colder Areas until May, All Mediterranean from May on) do any of you think I should not take certain items or add other items? Let me know.
2 Long Sleeve T-Shirts 3 Short Sleeve T-Shirts 1 Microfleece Sweatshirt 1 Long Sleeve Button Down Shirt 1 Short Sleeve Button Down Shirt 1 Pair Jeans 1 Pair Khakis 1 Swimming Suit / Shorts 1 Pair Khaki Shorts 1 Light Jacket 5 Pair Boxers 7 Pair Socks 1 Pair Walking Shoes (nice though) 1 Pair Flip flops
One thing...we're wanting to go to some clubs while we're in places like Berlin, Barcelona, Greece, Ibiza, etc. Is the collared shirt essential or would a long sleeve t-shirt (single color...I'll have a white and a charcoal grey one) be just fine? I tried fitting it and it doesn't feel too bad at all on my back (and the overall size fits alright).
Any input would be great, we're very excited (as you can see by us going to the lengths of posting our "clothing inventory"!)
Chris

I was wondering, if we're staying in huge hostels and there may be lots of snoring we'll most likely employ the earplugs. This often renders normal beeping alarm clocks useless as you sleep through those (and piss off many of the others I imagine). Has anyone ever seen or heard of an alarm clock that vibrates or something else clever? My cell phone here vibrates and rings and wakes me up if I've got earplugs, but I've never heard of something else. Just my thoughts, let me know.
