hey, i'm looking to go to Europe this summer for a month. right now i'm still in the planning stages of the trip and i was just wondering how much, is too much? i don't want to spend the entire time running around trying to get to the next train or whatever, but i'd still like to see as much as i can? does anyone have any reccommended routes or routes you've taken and thought worked well? thanks for your help.

tryto avoid spending less than two nights in any place. unless it holds *no* charm for you. bigger places require more time: on my Spring trip, i spent 5 nights in Rome, yet still left much that i wanted to see.

ERIC, it would help if you could provide a bit more information. For example, which countries are you most interested in seeing, what type(s) of sights do you want to see, etc. There are so many variables, it would be extremely difficult to provide any suggestions on recommended routes, etc.
Also, if you're going to be checking in from time-to-time while you're planning your trip, you may want to register on the Board. It's nice to know where you're from, etc. so as to better tailor the advice to your situation.
Cheers!!!

We want to get to Spain, France, Italy, England, Ireland, Germany, anddd Switzerland. We were thinking about landing in Paris, then going up through england (londan, liverpool, and others), over to ireland (dublin), back down to france, then spain (madrid, barcelona, others) across the southern coast of france into italy and checking out venice, rome, florence.. then either going back to paris for the rest of the time. or going up through switzerland and germany and back to paris and leave from there*****. lol. it'll be our first time over there and we're just excited about seeing as much as we can, but we're worried about trying to pack too to see into a month.
***** thats not a set in stone thing, just an idea

That much is too much! ;D
Think of it this way, you will want to spend at least 2 days in small places and at least 3 days in bigger ones.
That gives you around 10 - 12 cities and that's even pushing it.
If you stuck to London, Amsterdam, Paris, one other city in France, Madrid, Barcelona, one other city in Spain and a couple others, you'd be good.
Obviously if you think about it, there is absolutely no way you are going to be able to fit in all what you've listed, it isn't possible. You have to remember that you will be spending good portions of days on trains - and that's exhausting.
