BTW....borded a Polish train in Dresden for that route....but if you are on a German train going to the border you will change trains as Deutschbahn does not run in Poland/Czech. ging gee, i *was* on an Austrian train through Czech Rep. It never occured to me that it might make any differance. Live & learn!

the only time i had passport control goons asking to see my cash was on a ferry to sweden. they wanted to see that i wouldn't be begging on the streets, i guess.
credit & atm cards mean nothing to these folks. fortunatly, i still had about 50 DM in my pocket. not that would have gone very far in sweden! but, it satisfied them.

Like you, I had ATM/CC's but little cash at the time. Fortunately, I had an 'emergency' $50 bill tucked in my wallet....that, and about 30 euros was enough to quiet the Polish guard. But unlike Sweden...that amount was quite a bit for Poland. ging
