I'd say it will probably be warm enough but it might be a good idea to take some small and light. Basically, it can still rain in June and if you don't have something, you would get soaked.
Look for something light, compact and waterproof over warm. (You could always just wear a long sleeved shirt underneath if you did need warmth).
I can't really tell if that jacket looks bulky - it's just if you don't need it, you will end up hating it cause you will be packing it around!

just because I coudln't be bothered starting another thread about one thing, and well this is a thread about jackets: Today I finally purchased my jacket. Well its on layby. I'd anticipated spending $220 Aust, give or take $30. I was looking at ex-hire ski jackets, since in July 05 I'll also be skiing in New Zealand. We also checked out some of the camping and outdoor places just incase they had heaps good jackets going for great prices. The chick in one of those stores tried to sell me this: www.mountaindesigns.com/Index.cfm?Action=Products&Subaction=productDetail&ParentCategoryID=92&CategoryID=96&ProductID=1413Now while it was warm, and looked bloody fantastic on, it was just pointless- no hood, not at all rain proof etc etc. Don't get me wrong, if I lived in a freezing climate I'd own one of these as well as an outer rainproof shell, as well as my warm ski jacket. And I am gonna try and hit mum and dad up for a christmas present, just as alternative jacket to take with me. In the end I settled on my ski jacket. It looks like this style wise, has the same colours, but the the colours are different deisgn on the jacket: (EDITED to say wrong link, which didn't work anyways, and can't find the link to where it was!) Here is the funny and best parts: I have a fetish for pink clothing, and made a joke with my flatmate I'd return with a pink ski jacket.... not thinking i actually would find anything with pink, not even actually looking for anything pink. The best part, is that it was right at the the front of the shop where the brand new stock is, the stuff not on special, and the stuff not ex-hire. I saw it and fell in love. $379 (aust). More than I wanted to spend. We went looking down the back, and didnt' find anything else I loved. In the end I decided nope, I'll put it on layby, and just spend the extra on it, it will be worth it, after all I know what i'm like, if I am not completely in love with the clothing I will resent wearing it everytime I wear it. The beauty of it? It actually was on sale. So I got the jacket and a pink beanie (with a star on it.....thats my other fetish, stars) for $311. I'm happy! Sorry, just wanted to share the story with someone, and none of my friends actually understand the significance of finding that perfect jacket, and I figure someone round these parts may well do share my joy...

Just so you know, fleeces can be fairly waterproof, it just depends on how much rain you are expecting. For example, people use Northface fleeces up here (with a hat) as a coat almost year round. My major issue with them is that they aren't that great at keeping wind out.

i wore a neoprene blend windproof/water resistant jacket for warmth ($30 CAN from costco) and brought one of those pack-in-the-pocket raincoats from walmart ($20CAN) worked out great for september weather. you might want to pick up a small umbrella too. we had no choice but to buy one in london.

it was stressed to me that although that the jacket in the picture coudl withstand a bit of rain, if a shower came, to go inside and sit it out, don't risk getting caught in heavy rain. Well duh, heavy rain I'll be outta there no matter what I'm wearing, but it is those times you get caught by surprise that I want it to be ok for.
Besides it has no hood, and I want a hood. I like hoods.
