I'm thinking of taking a last minute trip to Europe to visit friends this month, Oct 18th on for 15 days. I'll see friends in Berlin a few days, then go on an adventure somewhere hopefully warming in S. Europe, then return to Germany. I'll take my little boy with me, whos 6 mos old but I don't know how I'd get around with stroller, etc. Any ideas, is this even possible. He's traveled 5 times on planes as my dad has had cancer and has been all over my state with me on business trips. I'm sure he can handle this and it'd be quite fun for me to relive my old backpacking days...

It's been ages since I've considered this sort of issue and I never went to Europe with my kids. I did make some other trips, though.
Are you breastfeeding him? That will obviously make the trip a lot easier if so. Has he started solid foods? I don't know if I'd bother with a stroller. Two different slings might work best. Strollers would just be a nuisance if you are on a cobblestoned street, etc. Since you'd be alone, the less you have to pack around the better. If you do take a stroller, make it as light as possible. Then again, in Berlin the streets should work out quite well with a stroller, so it might be worth it just for that. But I'd definitely take the slings.
I remember once I ran out of diapers although I thought I had packed twice as many as I would need!
You'd have to find a hotel with a safe crib for the second part of the trip. I know you could let him sleep with you if the bed was up against the wall, but I don't know if you could count on that. But then I'm a worrywart. My kids were definitely active enough while asleep to fall out of a regular bed if not held in somehow.

I have the bjorn carrier/sling, and I use that a lot when I travel but my back gets sore as he's a big boy. I can research maybe the cheapest, smallest stroller that I could carry with the backpack. I was nursing and recently quit, you are right, that would have been easier, but at 6 mos he's starting on solids too. I travel with him for business and have a travel bowl that holds inside two jars of food, a spoon and a bib, I'd take that. Diapers would take up space you are right, but I'd buy more while there I'm sure. When we travel for business I push the beds up against the wall and I'm on the other side, but he's getting more active these days. I think I could find hotels with cribs if I had some time to search but the bed thing is ok with me. Friends say they'd worry but we've been fine. Thanks,

Good point David. My granddaughter was born in Germany to military parents and was just 2 months old when they were due to return to US. She had to have a passport, even though no question of her American status.
