I noticed that the previous post had a recommendation for how big the backpack should be for a 2 month trip, yet does anyone recommend how big/size I would need for about a 5 week trip? Is there features that I should be looking for? Thanks for the help

wether you are going for 2 weeks or 2 months the amount of stuff should be the same cause you'll be doing laundry along the way. i recommend a 50 L... i took a 60L (cause its what i had) but it wasn't full and i like not having to be super careful of how i packed so it would all fit. my friend had a 40 L and was continually packing and repacking to make it all fit... in the end she ended up carrying stuff in plastic bags cause she didn't ahve enough room.

mel, I agree with Jules that a 50-60 L. pack is about the right size for most people. In terms of "features to look for", some that are important to me are a detachable Daypack and a "stowable" harness system to prevent damage to the straps.
I'm assuming you haven't bought a Pack yet? Whichever model you choose, make sure you are properly fitted, and if possible try this out fully loaded for a few hours to make sure the fit "works" for you. A lot of the group here prefers Eagle Creek Packs and I believe you can buy these from the main page on this site.
Good luck with your decision and happy travels!!!

Hey guys,
Thanks so much for your advice. It seems all so confusing when you don't know what size to look for. Sometimes I find great deals but it doesn't look as if the pack is big enough so I am happy to know where to start.
Thanks again!
