How can someone stating the fact that they've stepped foot in your country bother you? Just because they didn't fully immerse themselves in what is the 'true' American culture in your eyes doesn't negate the fact that they've stepped on US soil. Even when I was younger and my only trips over the river with my parents had been to Lewiston, NY to fill the car with gas and stock up on cheap clothes and groceries (which were promptly stored in the secret compartment in the boot) I would still say, if asked, that I had been to the States. I can appreciate that what you're saying is a bit in jest, but I'm sure people from LA/NYC/Miami wouldn't appreciate not being included in your picture of what the States 'is'. What really annoys me tends to come from the mouths of young North Americans who claim to have 'done' a country when they've only visited one place. It can't be denied that they've been to the country, but saying that a country has been 'done' implies never needing or wanting to return to see what other goodies it has to offer. Kirsty

do you honestly think NYC is 'America'? Sorry, I don't, any more than Paris is France or Berlin is Germany. Sorry if I offended you. But is Montreal Canada? Is that the sum total of the impression of your country you want thrown out? >>>>What really annoys me tends to come from the mouths of young North Americans who claim to have 'done' a country <<<< ;D Have to smile at this....I am 52 years old, surely not a young North American and have only 'done' one country by your criteria....Germany. Lived there for 6 years, and maybe still have not totally done it.

I would say the Czech Republic as well. Granted, I've never been to Poland, but I found the Czech Republic to be goregous (my favorite country that I've been to in Europe so far) and full of fun, friendly people.
If you can, go to more cities than just Prague. I really enjoyed Cesky Krumlov. Good luck!
