Hello everyone! As Dustoffmom let us know, there is know a pass for Czech Republic, it's 3 days in 15 days for the youth pass, only 70$ canadian.
I will be buying this pass because the ticket from Prague to Germany I was planning on taking anyways is 68$ canadian.
May as well buy the pass and have 2 spare days.
Now here is my dilemna.
I want to use those 2 days for short day trips from Prague or from Prague and stop 2 places on my way to Germany (Nurnberg).
Where would you recommend I stop that is worth it? I really don't know anything about Czech Republic besides Prague and I don't want to waste my time in a train, so maybe cities that are already on my route!
Thanks! Jen xxoxo

I was going to post about that pass, it's a good deal.
Remember, as a Canadian, you will need to get a visa to enter the Czech. Republic. This will cost you about $80 CND.
Another popular destination is Cesky Krumlov - didn't get there, but would have love to. Next time, I guess!

Thanks Kim! I know about the visa, and have been reminded thousands of times by my travel agent who was trying to score a few bucks by making the demand for me...haha funny woman she was. Cesky Krumlov sound good, but it isn't really on my route, it would be like 6 to 10 hours more of train to make detour by this city as I've calculated on bahn.de. It does sound really interesting though. But on my next trip around eastern europe maybe! I was thinking of maybe a daytrip to Kutna Hora as it is only an hour away so I can easily leave early in the morning and come back after lunch. I am just know checking what there is to do there...any of you have an idea? Also maybe Krivoklat....but is it really worth the 2h one way train ride? Please help! Thanks Jen xoxo

Kutna Hora is a good day trip from Prague. Very easy to get to, as it is not far away. Sights include a nice cathedral, a charming historic town, and copper mines that you can descend. In the neighboring town of Sedlec, there is an ossuary, or bone cathedral, where everything is made from human bones. It was built from the remains of 40,000 people after the plague struck.
I would second Kim about Cesky Krumlov. If you are going as a day trip, you can go and be back in Prague in one day, and it wouldn't really affect your route. However, to save time, the bus is faster than the train (about 2.5 hours one way).
Another good place that is more along your route is Karlovy Vary. The place is known for healing springs and massages. There are twelve springs you can drink from and the city is very pretty. It is also the home of a Czech digestif called Becherovka. They call it the 13th Spring.
Hope this helps, Ray

Good advice! Thanks! With all this info I think I know what I'll do. I'm arriving at lunch on the 16th of sept, so spend the day walking around. The 17th also. The 18th or 19th go to Kutna Hora and Sedlec. Spend the other day in Prague too and leave in the morning of the 20th.
I think I want to reserve at least 3 days for Prague, if I see I get a little bored of the city, I'll take the train to Cesky Krumlov.
Thanks you guys, I finally know what to do! xoxo Jen ;D

The trip between Prague and German border is no more than 10 Euro, whatever that means in Canadian $$.

The Czech rail pass does not cover transportation in Germany, does it?

No, it doesn't, of course, But the czech pass can only be bought in conjunction with another pass, and I have the selectpass so it covers the german part! Do you have a cheap way, cause 10$ sounds great to me! Where did you see that? Thanks!

There's no problem, as long as you spell the names right!
You can't get fares for international journeys, though.

Jen, Kalovy Vary is Karlsbad, in German. since you speak German, i thought you might know that name. - d Another good place that is more along your route is Karlovy Vary.
