Hello,
I know this topic is pretty old now, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents, now that I've christened my pack so to speak. I spent two months in Europe pretty recently... I originally wanted to go with the Eagle Creek pack, but just couldn't get it to fit properly/comfortably, so I ended up looking at MEC, and buying the Sojourn. I was worried about it making it through the trip, but it held up beautifully... It still look like new! While it's probably not the most comfortable pack in the world, it definately got the job done, and I've got no complaints and no regrets. Great quality bag!

Hi, I'm trying to get a bacpack, helpfully for a $100 or less. I'm a female 5' 5" around 130 pounds. Any suggestions, I'm really lost about what backpack I could by. I will be spending between 2 and 3 weeks in Europen in sep 2007. Thanks!

Hey
the best suggestion is to go to an outdoor and/or travel store and try some on. the staff there will be able to advise you how to best fit it to your torso. everyone has their own favorites but it depends on which fits you.

there are many great backpack companies. a few that i know are marmot, granite gear, and mountain hardware. just go on some outdoor websites and check out the prices. arc'teryx is definately expensive and not worth it if you're only going to visit cities. arc'teryx is mostly used by die hard outdoors people/mountaineers so don't waste the $$$. my friend and i went to europe for 2-3 weeks and we only took our regular school backpacks for our trip. of course we only had about 3-4 shirts, two pair of pants each, and a few underwears/socks but we managed ok.

anyone heard of High Sierra Railpass backpacks? i bought one from worldtraveler.com. it seems like a pretty decent backpack. it's panel-loading with a removable daypack and adjustable shoulder straps. i will be using it on my eurotrip in May.
