They do? I didn't know. That's good to hear though! It will make my cooking woes alot easier to handle. One of my favorite meals is a grilled cheese sandwich with real mozza and chedder or maybe a little havarti. Easy, filling and delicous!

i'm very lucky with eating........ a little goes a long way! In other words it can be very easy for me to over eat and put on weight.
I cannot ever stomach breakfast (I know I know, everyone should have something at breakfast to "break" the "fast", but I cannot stomach food in my stomach until I've been up and on the go for a few hours), so usually a glass of milk, or juice gets me by. Lunch I usually grab a bread roll or two and whack some vegemite on it (I always carry vegemite with me!) - I am lucky in that I absolutely dislike butter/margarine on sandwiches or anything, so I don't need to worry about it. And dinner time I find soup and bread is a big hit for me. Or pasta, with a quick heat up sauce, throw in some tuna and I'm happy. Or a cheap feed at the pub if we're heading to the pub for the evening.
Couple this with pieces of fruit through the day. When I arrive in a city I usually buy enough fruit for my stay if its a short stay or for two days at a time- 2 bananas, 2 apples, 2 oranges, etc.
I find my appetite decreases when I travel- all the excitement ! Next trip I'll be travelling with someone which is good, I'll remember to eat!

www.vegemite.com.au/Vegemite is a sandwich spread... much like marmite (BUT BETTER) and most (no not all) Australians love it. My friend in Switzerland at the moment is craving it something horrid! A typical lunch in an AUssie kids lunchbox would be a vegemite sandwich. Vegemite toast is also good for a hangover. I always take some with me when I travel. Its a good back up if you're hungry, a bit of bread, or toast or a roll with vegemite on it always goes down well!

What?? You can't get kindersurprises in the US?? That's terrible!!
PM me your address and I'll send you some - they are everywhere here in Canada.

They are available in US at CostPlus/World Market...among other spots. But...it is in the more 'specialty' type stores, not in your average WalMart or grocery store.

Yea they cant sell them in the states because of all the small part, i got a good laugh when i heard this but i also feel bad:(. I too love the KINDER stuff. When in Europe, especially Germany and Switzerland, I stock up on that stuff so i have enough when i get home to last me a little while...I miss it:(
BTW - what does vegemite taste like?

Wow, that's really interesting. Every place has them here - especially around the holidays. At Christmas, they make the packages into sleighs, at Valentines into hearts etc.
I think vegemite and marmite are things you have to grow up with cause I tried it and EWWW!

Just bought six eggs for Lizzy at World Market here in JAX this past weekend.....not easy to find but they can be had here in the states. Unlike Canada it seems though, not 'everywhere'.

At christmas we get HUGE kindersurprizes with BIG toys in them...they are so great! In march-april when i was in europe with a school tour, our school was teamed up with 2 American schools and they all went nuts over kindersurprize, we thought it pretty funny:D. I dont like the toys, i just like the chocolate and in Germany they sell it in bars ;D

yeah a lot of people steer clear of vegemite.....they find it rather salty in flavour. I wouldn't know how to describe its flavour, not being well versed in culinary and taste descriptive words, but its sort of a savoury salty taste.
and my mum puts a half teaspoon of it in when she makes gravy for our roast dinnners!

Kim I've go to say, you're lucky! I put ON weight when I travelled last (blame it on the gelato, the "chocolatine", the waffles, the belgian chocolate and the beer).
In Europe you can also get the Ritter sport chocolate for A LOT cheaper!!
And I agree with everyone here that kinder surprise are the best a still get excited about the little toy I'll find.

I can't believe you can't find Kindersurprise in the US stores. That's shocking! You can buy it here in different sizes and shapes. I can buy it in bar form at my pharmacy.
