It sounds like a pretty good amount for a trip and you could live well beyond the typical budget traveler's means on that amount.

Definitely! Assuming you have transportation already taken care of, that means that you have about 12000+ Euros.
Assume a budget traveler budget of about 50 to 75 Euros per day, which would mean hostel dorms and mostly supermarket food in Western Europe, but possibly a bit more luxury in Eastern Europe.
Your worry then would be about making sure you didn't overstay in the Schengen zone and so on.
Did you really mean twenty thousand Canadian dollars?

thats what i meant. I want enough money that i dont have to be a tight ass, im bad when i go away, i buy a lot of souviners. I also wanna be able to have fun, do what i want when i want and not have to worry too much about running outta money
Maybe 20K is a bit extreme, how much would u take Canadian for 3 months?

If you want to go around without worrying too much about the cost and also buy souvenirs when you feel like it, maybe 100 Euros per day would be a better target. Still would come in under the 20K CAD, though . Also if you want to stay in hotels instead of dorms, you might want to look at what those will cost where you're going. I don't know what I'd take for 3 months, because I have only taken short trips all my life . If you take a trip within Canada or the US, what do you like to spend? I know if I take my daughter to Disneyland it feels like a bottomless hole has opened up in my purse .

Your post made me nervous. There is no way I'll have near that much money. I'm only going for a month, but that would equel about 7 grand using your 20 base. Is it really that expensive?

No, you definately won't need $7000 for a month.
Basically your airfare and railpass is paid for, you should look at a minimum of $50 per day, $75 being a more comfortable amount. This is for staying in hostels and doing it cheaply.
If you can bring $2500 for a month, you will be fine.

Yup! I'm doing hostels and my airfair/railpass and Heritage Pass will be paid for before I go. I'm not planning on seeing any attractions that aren't covered by the pass with the exception of York Minster.
I haven't done up a budget yet, but I'm looking at between 80 and 100 a day.

I will have about $4,000 for my total two month trip. This averages out to about $70/day, or 55e or 44 pounds a day. Will this be enough?
I thought it would be, then I figured out my budget for Paris! I know it's one of the more expensive places but.. it made me nervous because I'll be hard pressed to stay within that, if I can.
