What country would everyone like to go see the most if they had the chance? A country you've never been to before, Europe or anywhere?

The 'place' that is my number one dream list item is the Seychelles Islands.....at this point in my life, the 'country' I'd like to be able to visit and explore is Russia. And I think it would be wonderful to take one of those expeditions to the South Pole!
The two countries I'd be most inclined to revisit are Scotland and Italy. Loved them both and feel there is yet so much to see there it would be well worth the time and money to go again.

In Europe, it's Hungary. Am trying to plan a trip there in the Spring. Hence, my questions about EU expansion on 1 May 2004.
Outside Europe, i'd like to visit South America. One reason Spainish lessons are on my agenda.
Also, India would be interesting, someday.

Hmmm...there are so many places!
Belize, Peru, New York, some of the islands in Thailand, random small little places in Italy that I never got to.

No kidding, I can think of a ton of places to see as well. I'd like to see Norway & Sweden in Europe.. and on the global scale of things, I'd probably want to go see Australia/New Zealand. It's a killer plane ride though!

I loved Australia.. backpacked through there for 3 months.
Only was in New Zealand a couple days - would love to go back and do it properly.
Maybe the Asia plane ride is just fresher in my mind, but I found that was a more hellish ride than Australia. Didn't have much leg room on the Asian flights and it was turbulant.. yuck.

Since we're talking about an ideal world, what is the best arrangement you could do with a flight to Asia or Australia if you booked segments and several-day stopovers? (E.g. Vancouver - Los Angeles - Honolulu - Hong Kong - etc.) What's the maximum length flight you would have to take? I'm not seriously planning a trip to either continent right now, and I don't know how possible it would be to break up all the segments, but I'd seriously consider it if I could significantly reduce the total length of any one segment. (Actually, Japan will probably be my next big trip, with my daughter - either in 2004 or 2005.)

The stop overs differ when you go to Asia as when you go to Australia. (We flew out of Vancouver for both)
For Australia, I think we could pick up to 3 and they included the Cook Islands (gorgeous!), Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand, Samoa and Tahiti.
For Bali, we could have stopped over in Japan, Hong Kong, Bangkok or Singapore.
I would definately do a few stop overs, it's way better and you get to see some cool places for either no extra or not that much extra. The stop overs you get and if you have to pay for them all depends on the company you go with.

Yes, I know someone who did from Toronto, to (Vancouver I think) then Japan, Hong Kong and finally to Australia.

Currently there are such fabulous deals to Asia (like Singapore and probably elsewhere with great airfare+hotel deals, or just airfare alone). But knowing these good deals are due to the SARS scare is sobering. If these deals persist at Christmas time, I'm going to try to find a way to go (since that's the next possible time I can take a holiday).

For any of you that want to go to Asia................I just thought I'd let you know that Cathay Pacific has this crazy deal right now.
I'm not sure if it's just for Hong Kong but a friend said if she bought a ticket with Cathay for Hong Kong you get another free trip to anywhere in Asia. She chose Japan for the food!
Oh and my #1 place has always been Paris -- ALWAYS!!! We'll be going there in August though so I'll have to find a "never been" place.
I don't know -- I've always wanted to see the norther lights.
I'd like to visit Iran someday.
And I have this dream to take a trek to Everest Base Camp. I figure I'll never climb that mountain but I want to get as high as I possibly can!

Yeah, that's how we flew it in September.
It's not a trip anywhere else in Asia though, (we did the same thing with Cathay), you just get a free stop over in another place in Asia but it has to be certain places that Cathay flies. Tokoyo, Bangkok, Singapore and a few others.

We flew Vancouver to Bangkok then Bangkok to Bali.
We had to change planes in Hong Kong and Singapore but chose Bangkok as our stop. It wasn't on the list of ones to choose from but they let us anyway as it was where we wanted to go.
I'd love to go back and see more of Thailand!
I can't believe it's already 9 months since we came home from that trip!
