So right now I am hosting a Flat Stanley - (Flat Stanley is a kids book where a bulletin board fell on poor Stanley and flattened him) from a grade two class in Oregon.
I have to take pictures of Flat Stanley with things around my city so they can learn about different places then send him (the little paper Flat Stanley) back with the pictures.
I was thinking this would be a cool way for everyone to get to know each other here and see what it's like where everyone lives. I would send out a little paper person and everyone could take pictures of what it did when it visited you and then we could put all the pictures in our photo gallery.
What do you think?
(I have to take my Stanley out today - so far all he's done is play video games with my future husband..)

Shall we leave it totally to each one's pleasure, or should we request 2 or 3 'must have' shots...i.e....one with you, one at your front door, one with your backpack...whatever? Just a thought.

I say leave it up to everyone - then it will be interesting to see what everyone comes up with!
Any ideas on a name for our paper person?
I took a picture of Flat Stanley in front of the parliament buildings today and a few other places today. Got to get him back to his class in Oregon so he had to do a lot of sight seeing in one day!

I can't think of a name, but I think our "Stanley" should be drawn wearing a GFE t-shirt, and maybe have a backpack on! I could think of a few ways to get really creative with him, and make him like a paper doll, so he can have a paper moneybelt, a daypack, camera, passport............ I could go on and on!! Now look what you've started Kim

Wow, you are creative! OK, I will design him with a GFE t-shirt and then if anyone wants to add to theirs before taking their pictures, that would be cool!
I know in the program right now with the Flat Stanleys, one person (from Ohio, I think?) dressed him up in winter gear as it was snowing there!
I think we should call the guy GFE Gary! Can everyone PM me their addresses and when Gary is ready to go, I will send him out to everyone. You can either mail back your pictures for me to scan or email them to me. You can choose whether or not to be in the pictures.
Let's see how far GFE Gary can travel!

Okay...now I am a bit confused....I thought that there was one Gary that got passed around from person to person, traveling all over the world in the process, but your post makes it sound like each of us will have our own? Either way will be fun...just wanting to be sure what we are talking about. You know how easily confused us oldsters can get.

Nope, everyone will get their own Gary - it will be identical though so in the pictures it will look like the same one.
If there was just one, he probably wouldn't last long - he'd blow away or get ripped in half or something!!

I might be interested? Tell me a bit more about how this thing works? Not sure what there is in this area that would be suitable for pictures with GFE Gary?
I'll be looking forward to seeing some of the pictures that are submitted.
