Okay, so I have been looking at the money belts availible online. I'm worried you can see it under my clothes. I mean, the ones I saw might be okay for a man with like loose fitting jeans and a large shirt, but is there any that are more women-friendly? I was considering wearing a very casual skirt on some of the days, I'm not sure if it would work with the money belt. Also, most of my jeans sit right on my hips or a little above, will my money belt stay underneath that?
I know the importance of a money belt, I have read all your comments and advice about how important it is. So I'm not even considering NOT wearing it. I just would like to ask if any women have a money belt that they like.

Hi morgan Don't worry about the money belt showing, i wore low rise jeans and skirts throughout my trip and always wore my money belt without difficulty. Even if it does show it doesn't matter, the purpose of a money belt is to keep your valuables close to your body therefore alerting you if someone is trying to steal your things. If you wear tight jeans then you would surely feel someone reaching into them hmm?

If you wear pants a lot, you could try a moneybelt that you wear on the leg. Worked for me, I wear flared pants all the time and had it on just below the knee. You definitely couldn't tell it was there.
Sewing in your own interior pockets works too. Probably not so much for a passport, but for cash.

i've got a hand made nylon thing which i inherited from my uncle. it has velcro closing & a leather loop that hangs from my belt, over the top & inside my pants. it's just the right size to fit a passport and a few other things. it works great.

Another vote for no problem. I also have one from MEC and it's fine with my low-rise jeans. I wear it around the back and after inspecting my backside in the mirror can't even tell that it's there. I'm not sure if it's less effective but I figure if no one can see it - then it's safe.

more important than it being invisible, it should be impossible for anyone to get to with you knowing it. a big reason to keep aware of what's going on. . . if you get sloshed, a thief could get to your money belt w/o you even realizing it.
as a teen girl, getting sloshed also makes you vulnerable to men with *other* motivations. you need to be cautious.

Check www.rei.com - that's where I got mine, except I got one where the belt part had a thin metal cable running through it so that it would be extremely difficult/impossible for someone to cut off of you (as opposed to just a fabric belt) and made me feel more secure. It did not make it uncomfortable to wear. Really nice. Sometimes the belt on mine would poke up above my pants or skirt but just be aware and tuck it down so you look slightly less like a tourist. Have fun!

I realize this post is late, but I wanted to share incase other girls (er, women) are looking for more slimmer/smaller belts. I got a Belle Hop money belt at REI for $12, it's a small vanilla-colored satin pouch and is very light. The con is that you may not be able to carry much in it, but pro is that it will hide much better underneath your clothes. I hid my wallet, passport and monies in it but carried the rest in my daybag. www.rei.com/product/741162Here's an Eagle Creek equivalent from campmor.com: www.campmor.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=9098&memberId=12500226Cheers!
