ging... that's very interesting... the rest of the world rarely pays attention to us! i mean to an extent it is a big deal but its not like it hasn't happened before! minority gov'ts that last a full term i believe are pretty rare...

Just thought I would chime in and add that here, at least on CNN world, this is being played up as a very HUGE thing indeed! There is loads of time devoted to it and everyone newswise is talking about it in very somber, serious tones. you watching CNN in Germany, Ging? a little surprising, that. it's only natural that it'd get lots of coverage on CNN. Canada is America's biggest trading partner and, despite objections by some quarters, our closest ally. frankly, i'm disappointed in TV network news. the coverage has been poor. most of the news i've gotten about this has come from the web.

david, I think you know me well enough to know I would watch wrestling or the cartoon network at home before I would tune to CNN. But, if it is the only English language station available...well, even CNN slant is better than nothing. That said...goodness, there is a world of differcence between CNN stateside and that which is presented overseas....which I imagine you know. Talk about anti-American!

speaking of gasoline....just thought I would add that gas is 1.38 a liter here in Leipzig...that's what, about $5.50 a gallon? In Kassel last week it was 1.32.
