yes your heard it here folks yoga is not as safe as reported! evidence: in my yoga class last night this girl who is btw a yoga groupie fell during a pose and sprained her ankle very badly, in my professional opinion, it was a grade II sprain but then again i'm a little rusty in those type of things so who the hell knows all I know is that the thing swelled up like a balloon rapidly. The worst thing about it is that a lot of people laughed when she fell cuz it was funny and we didn't think she hurt herself. The yoga teacher of course kept her cool and asked if she was ok in her 'yoga voice' . I often wonder if they teach this voice in yoga school cuz all the teachers have it, on some it's very soothing but on others it's just annoying . I really would love it if one day a yoga teacher would just scream out of the blue, that would be cool! Then again it might cause other people to fall and we wouldn't want that would we? lesson from this story: beware of yoga!! in fact don't do it at all, I don't think i'm going next week...........who am I kidding? of course I will go but I will keep my ankles in check

oooh i would like to try rock climbing, it sounds adventerous and fun! Do you go to a center or to actual live rocks? hmmm.... i guess rocks are not alive but you know what i mean? I know what you mean about the 'tranquility' of yoga, sometimes I wish it was more active but then again that's not the point I guess. I take it to balance out all of the other cardio I do cuz i'm a cardio queen, I'm not that good at yoga though I guess with more practice I could get better. It doesn't come as naturally to me as jumping up and down like crazy for an hour lol!

I used to take yoga classes & it was fabulous. It was the only time during the week that I actually relaxed & didn't think about anything! (I'm an obsessive worrier) And it was also amazing for my constant back pain. I just wish I had time for it now....

I just wish I had time for it now.... Maybe you'll have more time in Banff? btw, is there a Tim Hortons near the job there to keep your habit fixed? ;D

yes xandra yoga is very good for back pain, especially if you have a good instructor who knows how to modify poses and such. I agree with David, maybe you'll have more time once you move. Try to make some time for yourself, it's very important to take care of oneself which women often neglect to do cuz they are natural caretakers and are always putting their loved ones first

And yeah, I'm really hoping that I'll have a bit more "me" time when I get there. I feel like I'm running on empty so it would be nice to take care of myself a little better.

no timmies in banff?? that should be illegal!
i think yoga made my back worse... not better! only thing that made my back feel better was a PT.

xandra, I'm surprised to hear there isn't a "Timmie's" in Banff, but there is probably at least one franchise in nearby communities. What's close to Banff - Canmore? I don't usually patronize Timmie's (we have three or four of them here, and I've found the customer service is terrible!)
Jules, I haven't tried Yoga for back problems, but in my case a combination of massage therapy and Physio was perfect (I'm assuming that's what you were referring to with "PT"?). My excellent RMT was the first one to recognize the source of the problem, and after that things improved quickly.
Cheers!!!

looked on the website, there's a Tim Hortons in Canmore, 10 miles away.
maybe that's something your boyfriend could do, Xandra, open a Tim Hortons in Banff! that might be very lucrative.

David you're my hero!! lol I've gotta suggest to Mat that he can open a Tim Hortons. But I can't disturb him now.. it's Superbowl time. 10 miles doesn't sound like much until you are careless (and license-less for that matter lol) But my Dad promised he'd buy me canned Tim Hortons coffee. Not quite the same, but at least its still from there haha
The yoga didn't completely cure my back pain it just helped to make it more bearable. I need my chiropractor, but once I was off my Dads health plan it got way too expensive to keep going. At least I'll get benefits in 3 months at the Fairmont...

actually, i've been carless for several years. and i live in america, where it's almost a criminal offense to be carless!
unfortunately public transport in Dallas sucks for the evenings. it's all daytime, oriented toward getting Downtown. even in daytime hours, to go elsewhere in Dallas, other than strait North or South of here, i often must go South to downtown and take another outbound bus.
