I don't know David. I will agree that they are not 'that' intrusive, but Kim has steadfastly tried to ever maintain a board free of any ads or come on's. One of the things we mods try to maintain. If you have visited other travel boards with the endless links and ads I am sure you know what I am speaking of. Her goal is to have an ad free exchange of information, hopefully helpful and one you can rely on to not be trying to sell you anything. For many years now she has maintained that cost herself, while many of us have daily accessed this site and enjoyed the company and conversation. If I can help her out a bit now and then I am happy to do so. If you don't find it worth your time or money, then ignore such posts. Yep...you bet, I am a bit steamed just now.

Ahem...shall I pull up all the many PM's you have fired off to me, today and in the past, complaining or alerting me to an 'ad' that had escaped our notice? I save all PM's....I have quite a list.

If you don't feel it is worth contributing to, then don't. No one is insisting that you do so. Your post is petty and small.

To expand a bit on my previous post regarding the Ads, I did find them a bit distracting and annoying, with things "leaping about" on the CRT whenever these were present. I DO enjoy the atmosphere here on the Boards, so will gladly contribute to help keep these "ad-free" (however, I'm still not sure how to go about this as I don't know if I can use my credit card??? See my previous question).

However I also realize that others here might have a different point-of-view regarding the Ads, so don't mind if each member makes their own decision (no bias either way).

Keep the posts coming everyone! These do help me, and hopefully I'll get a chance to enjoy the travel experience again this fall!

David, I know my post was harsh and I do apologize. I was upset and should not have written before taking a few deep cleansing breaths.

For those of you who wish to help Kim out, do so and many thanks. Those that don't....she does not care. She bears the cost and always has and still thinks of this board as her 'baby' so she will spend what is needed. She simply has very high standards and ethics as what she will accept and what she won't. And I appreciate her efforts as I know many of you do too.

Sorry if I missed anything here as I skimmed through the posts pretty quick, but I tend to agree with David that I don't find the ads that intrusive. The only issue I see from Kim's point of view is that (google adsense) which I believe is what the board uses, has ads that are relevant to the content and these ads may take some traffic away from paying sponsors. Then again, I think the paying sponsors are restricted mainly to the actual website and not the forum area. But the short answer is they don't really bother me personally.

I'm only playing, I had to post that. I'm feeling very evil today...

In truth, I think Patrick hit the nail on the head there. Yes, the ads are pretty un-intrusive (compared to some I've seen!), but they also take money away from GFE. Kim wants to have an ad free board, she asks for donations, some give, some don't.

Anyway, since the month is over anyway, and the ads are taken care of for the month, I'm just gonna lock this thread....
