Um, I´m pretty surplussed about the number of emails I get. I drop everyone a line saying "cheers" - the least I can do - although I would really like to go further into this, but I have other work to do as well. So! A big THANK YOU to all of you out there, I´m really enjoying this. Keep 'em coming! Klaus PS I posted this as well on the Busabout Forum (see: www.busabout.com/chatabout/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5371 ) There was an interesting question if that hostel would have a "theme", for whatever that means... that won´t be part of the game, but I wanted to encourage everyone to make suggestions about ANYTHING. We´re still planning, and that building leaves us enough room and opportunities for all sorts of experiments we --AND YOU-- can think of!

I've lots of ideas of what I would like to see in a hostel, which I've noted in threads in several travel forums and on my site, and Klaus has contributed to some of those forums. Briefly, I think a hostel should include: * A comfortable common room without a TV (music is fine). Patio just as good if the weather is OK. * A fully-equipped self-catering kitchen (I know Klaus that you have trouble with insane regulations, but please provide as much as you can). * Mixed dorms, or a choice of all types. * Suitable dorm lighting so that it's not all or nothing (ie a switch that turns on dim lights for late comers and early risers). * Staff who mix with the guests and encourage interaction between guests (absent in HI hostels).
For something different, how about a hot tub?

* A fully-equipped self-catering kitchen (I know Klaus that you have trouble with insane regulations, but please provide as much as you can). We found a way around these regulations and have a proper kitchen since last week in Vienna! (Unfortunately, the situation in Munich is even trickier, but we´re working on it).

Current state:
Thanks to all out there, we got much more suggestions than we ever expected!
We had a first debate yesterday, but not yet a final decision.
Our favorites so far are:
Wombat´s Walkabout (thanx Lauren Moss) and Wombat´s Wanderlust (thanx Alyssa Newton and Kim - yes, THE Kim!)
or:
Wombat´s Base and Wombat´s Club (thanx Jennifer Dore)
But then, it could be something completely different (i.e. if we get more cool suggestions from the MALE part of the world!!!)
Keep´em coming, we want to decide on something in July.
Happy trails,
Klaus

And the winner is: thrilled already? [ ] Jennifer Dore. The existing hostel will be "Wombat´s Base" and the new one "Wombat´s Lounge". According to my records, nobody else came up with these names so the honour of the winner is all Jennifer´s. I´d like to thank you all for participating, I enyoyed to read every single suggestion, and I got some almost daily. Thank you very much!!!! Happy travels, Klaus
