It's all to Kim...she has ever wanted a truthful, reliable site. And tries her best to insure all info is legit and correct.
WT is so very right. It's a huge game among owners...posting glowing reviews of their spots and horrid reviews of competitors. It makes it very hard to make good decisions when traveling doesn't it?
And thanks WT...but I just do my best to follow Kim's rules and vision!

BTW....shouldn't you be packing tonight and not surfing this board? ;D Aren't you like 48 hours or so from lift off?

We're doing laundry. I am mostly packed. I've made up my itinerary of all the places we are seeing, and in what order, the hotel locations and telephone numbers and confirmation numbers. I should be nagging my daughter a bit more, though . We're leaving for Seattle on the night of Aug. 16, so we are about 72 hours from departure (starting with the bus trip to Seattle).

My experience in Italy, particularly Rome, was that most travellers go to the hostels because they think they are cheaper. Yellow Hostel is 27 Euros per night per person and is no big deal. Small bathrooms/toilets in the rooms, kitchen/TV/phone etc all in one room. On the way back we didn't book a hostel as we were travelling and couldn't get to an internet cafe so started phoning in the morning but were told they were full, had to show up by 3pm (which we couldn't, our train didn't get in until 5pm) etc, etc. So when we got into the train station I was expecting to have to spend 50 Euros each or something at a hotel but when I went to the Hotel reservation booth the really helpful girl found us a double room with A/C, ensuite bathroom and 2 blocks from the termini for 20 Euros each- 5 Euros extra if we wanted a fresh breakfast (not one loaf of bread thrown at 20 hostelers!). This is true of Rome, but I'm not sure about anywhere else- except Lake Garda where we stayed at Hotel Paula which was good value and great staff.

I have the hotel name at home somewhere- I'll try and find it. But the hotel booking booth faces the trains at Roma Termini- if I forget to find the name that's the place to go!

Thanks for the tip. We don't plan to book too much in advance. So the hotel booking booth would be helpful
