ya, you're right.. just adding some competition among sites ;D (JUST JOKING!!!) - anyway, I just read "boats", talking about venice..that'r right, they are venice's buses, but they'r rather expensive for turists - you need to live in the veneto region to have a pass and pay a reasonable price for them..so, it's nice having a ride on the water, but..walking is so much cheaper!!!

Yeah, single tickets aren't cheap (Euro5 per journey, bless the Venetian mayor!), but you can still get a 12 to 72hr ACTV (vaporetti) Travel Card as well as the Venice Card can't you? (I love that the use of the public toilets - where you normally pay Euro1 - is included in the pass! ;D) I know when they first brought it in a couple of years ago you had to pre-order it (ie you could by it in Venice on the day) - is this still the case or can you buy it in Venice on the day now? Wait a minute - this now belongs in the Transport section...!

You know what? I don't know. I never use vaporetti, and when I do I use the venice card ;D but I'll try to figure out how the Travel Cards work and tell you about it! Yes, this shouold definitely go in the transport section. I'll write there the results of my research!

Yellow Hostel in Rome is one of those really modern type places if that's what you like. Nice and clean, trendy looking common area... almost a bit too slick though for my tastes. Took me on a messy pub crawl though so all was forgiven (forgotten). In Venice I think the place is Camping Alba D'Ora which is affordable but about 30 minutes out of town by bus. Plus I think the buses stop sort of early-ish in the night. You can stay in little bungalows or these strange pod-like sleeping things or in tents so there's a price range.
Enjoy! Kirsty
