Kings Cross's isn't a bad area. It's not as glamorous as London but it's a great hub to stay within. I did stay at a Travelodge 2 mins away from Kings Cross and I never had a problem whatsoever. It was very easy and efficient to get into London within a short span of time.
I took a look at the UK Travelodge website and I found that if you select the "1 night" option for Saver rooms:
London Marylebone: 26-pound rates for the following nights: 28th, 30th and the 1st.
Marylebone is between Paddington and Kings Cross and 26 pounds... you could save a bit of money by staying here for 2 nights and the other elsewhere. Maybe if you're really into budget-travelling, you could spend the first two nights (28th and 29th) at one place and the other two nights at the above Travelodge? I did that with my UK trip not too long ago and it was really cost-effective.

mareecio, now that you have some "additional travel funds", will you still be staying in the same Hotel? These might be a bit high for your budget, but you might have a look at www.limetreehotel.co.uk/ or www.elizabethhotel.com to see if they might be suitable? Cheers!

Thank you PONR, i have thought about spending 2 nights in one hotel and the other 2 at a Travelodge, but I have so little time in the city, I'm affraid to loose too much time checking-in and out of hotels while i'm there. I'd rather stay at the same hotel the whole time, but Travelodge is one I'm considering right now

Eagle, No I don't think I will be staying at that hotel now that travel funds are a little more high than they were supposed to be in the beginning, though I still don't want to pay a 1000$CAD for a hotel I just looked at those links you provided, the Elizabeth Hotel seems very nice though I can't access their reservations section so I can't see if there's any vacancy or what the tariffs are though by looking at the pictures, I'm pretty sure it's expensive lol I have a list of hotels right now which seem interesting and are within my price range, but I just can't seem to be able to decide which one to choose though lol Ascot Hyde Park Hotel : www.ascothydeparkhotel.co.uk/Queens Park Hotel : www.queensparkhotel.com/Eden Plaza : www.edenplazahotel.co.uk/Central Park Hotel : www.centralparkhotellondon.co.uk/Crowwell Crown Hotel : www.cromwellcrownhotel.com Georgian House hotel : www.georgianhousehotel.co.ukHenley House : www.henleyhousehotel.com/

Based on Trip Advisor Reviews....
Ascot Hyde Park Hotel - doesn't seem to have a lot of good reviews.
Queens Park Hotel - generally better reviews than Ascot but still some negative comments which are notably among the most recent reviews.
Eden Plaza - even more bad reviews...
Central Park Hotel - mixed reviews but generally positive.
Cromwell Crown Hotel - nearly all reviews are 1/5 stars!
Georgian House hotel - mixed reviews but seems too far out since it's in the Wimbledon area so I would avoid this for transportation costs because it's between Zones 3 and 4. You want a hotel that's in Zone 1 or 2.
Henley House - generally positive reviews.
I like TA's reviews because most of the travellers are honest and often provide pictures with their reviews. Out of the selections you posted, I'd go with Henley House because it's close to Victoria (major hub) while being in the Earls' Court area.

Thanks PONR, I hadn't thought about going to check people's reviews on Trip Advisor. True that site can be a big help

Luna and Simone is very popular with all kinds of travellers. I absolutely would recommend them! I hope you can get a room with them surely!

I think you should do it now or later. Stay two nights there and another two nights in a Travelodge or cheap hotel. The more you wait, the more disappointed you'll become!

I know but won't i be wasting half a day checking out of one hotel and checking into another one ? This is what I'm affraid of. Also, the vacancy they have is on the 27th and the 28th, so it's ok if I do get into London a day earlier than I was originally intending to, add one day more on my stay there, but if I don't I'll only be able to stay there one night and have to check out the next day.

I didn't have any problems checking out of one place into another. I left my bags at the B&B (they gladly held them for me free of charge because Travelodge doesn't allow people to check in till 3 PM) and around 5-6 PM, I went back and picked them up and headed to the Travelodge by tube. No problem. Most hotels and B&Bs in London do this free of charge provided you ask them ahead of time.
To reduce headaches and stresses, I would add on an extra day - stay at Luna & Simone on the 27th and 28th and find a second place for the rest of the duration. You'll have a tough time trying to find a place that has vacancy for all the days you'll be in London.

I have to admit trip advisor kind of confuses me sometimes. I have found 2 or 3 hotels that have vacancy for the whole lenght of my stay, are well situated and are withib my budget, so I go over to trip advisor to check out people's opinions and some are really good, they give them either a 4 or 5 and then others give them a 1 and say that this hotel is to avoid. I'm a bit confused as to which to believe really.

You can tell if it's a good review if it's well-written and has honesty to it. Bad reviews are those who write short sentences or don't provide any useful information (i.e. "Terrible time. Will never return here" without giving any particular details).
Go with your gut feeling. It's the best way to do so.

The problem with changing to a different Travelodge every night is that Travelodge refuses to do luggage storage and it also refuses, so far as I know, to do early check-in. So you would have the inconvenience of dealing with luggage for 5 or 6 hours. We just took EasyBus to Stansted yesterday. It was a great service. As it turned out, this bus trip had almost perfect timing, but I would suggest getting an earlier bus than you think you will need, because I have also been on London highways where the trip took much longer than expected. You do not want to have to deal with short timelines with budget airlines and Stansted Airport. When are you going to London? Like PONR says, I tend to recommend Priceline (see betterbidding.com for more info ). But this last stay, we stayed at a London School of Economics residence - High Holborn Hall - and it was a great service. If your stay is before Sept. 29, this will work for you. I have to admit - it is not as nice as the hotels I have gotten on Priceline for London - but it was great to have kitchen facilities and free breakfast - and the location is super-perfect for tourists in London. Edit - I just saw your first post and you said late Sept. and early October. Maybe an LSE residence will help for part of your stay. Check www.travelstay.com .
