Hi Ray! My friend and I are going to be in Prague February 22-24, so we have 3 full days to spend. I have read all of your previous posts and know which sights you recommend seeing, but it seemed like some of the sights were based on their greenery/flowers. Since we will be there in February, I was wondering if you had any different suggestions. We're both 20 and are also interested in the nightlife/pubcrawls. I know that there won't be many people but it's when my reading week is, so it was my only option. I know this is late notice, but I just found this section today. If you get this before February 14th, I'd love to hear your advice!! Thank you! Kaley

Hi Kaley,
Winter hasn't been too bad here this year except for a few days, so things still look nice. For three days, I would recommend the Prague Castle, Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, Mala Strana and Vysherad. I still love just walking around Old Town and Mala Strana and just soaking it in. I've been here close to 4 years now, and it is still a magical place, any time of year.
You won't have too hard a time finding nightlife here. The CouchSurfing group in Prague meets regularly and has fun nights at one of the local bars. I went to the last one and had a blast. There is another one this Saturday that I will try to make it to, and there is talk of arranging another one at the end of February. If it coincides with your dates in Prague, I will let you know.
Also, I'd be happy to show you around a little while you are here, but I'm only free at nights or on weekends.
Happy travels, Ray

Hi Ray! Thank you for your speedy response last time! Amazing! Very glad to hear the winter weather isn't too bad over there. It's FREEZING here in Canada right now. That Couchsurfing group sounds very interesting. Hopefully we are there on the weekend of one of their get togethers! We are arriving in Prague on Thursday February 22 at about noon, and we are leaving late at night on Saturday February 24. We actually had a question about that. We are looking to take a night train from Prague to Munich on the night of the 24th. I was looking at Eurolines and it has perfect times and prices (leave at about midnight for $30) but it was only offered on the 23rd and 25th. I was wondering if you knew of any other bus lines, or the cheapest way we could get from Prague to Munich the night of the 24th (we just want to be in munich for about noon the next day so it doesn't matter what time it leaves). Maybe there's another bus line that does this? How long it takes really doesn't bother us at all! If you have any input I'd love to hear it! Sorry for the late notice. I understand if there is no time to reply. If not maybe I'll see you in Prague!! Thanks so much for everything! Kaley

Hi Kaley, Unfortunately, I think the meeting will be on Saturday, the 24th. But I'm sure you will have a good time here regardless. As for transportation, take a look at this link: jizdnirady.atlas.cz/ConnRes.asp?tt=X&cl=E5&from=1& from=0&from=6157&froml=-1&to=1&to=0&to=5127&tol=-1& date=24.2.2007&time=23:00&min1=5&min2=0&min3=1& min4=5&min5=1&min6=5&max1=240&max2=240&max3=60& max4=60&max5=60&max6=240&alg=1&isdep=1&beds=0& chn=7&stop=0&odcht=0&odch=50&link=A8F6&prev=1& handle=20638 There is a night train that leaves about 8:00pm on Saturday and arrives at 6:30 in the morning. This is the only direct train that fits your schedule. It shouldn't cost too much, but unfortunately that website doesn't list international prices. Also, it seems the direct buses only go during the week or on Sunday. Good luck! If you want to meet up while you are in Prague, feel free to send me an email at: "BIGRAYL (at) yahoo.com" Ray (modified to split the URL up and make the page look normal again)

Hey Ray! Sorry to keep bothering you. Unfortunately the weather here is terrible and my flight was delayed, so I end up in Europe 2 days later than originally planned! Really crappy, but we're trying to make the best of it. So our plans have changed so that we are now leaving from Cologne to Prague. I was wondering what the CHEAPEST way to get from cologne to prague is no matter how long it takes (maybe night bus?). I couldn't find prices on the site you gave me before, and was wondering a ballpark region (as we have already wasted money on no cancellation bookings). We will now be in Prague Wednesday the 21st, Thursday 22, and Friday 23. I know you said you were only available weekends, but if you happen to be available any of those times we'd love to meet up and hear what you know about Prague! Thanks again for everything. Kaley

Well I am not Ray, but you might want to check www.germanwings.com/index.en.shtml, for some airline tickets, my guess is that would be cheaper than the train. (wednesday 21st, at 11.05 = 67,34 euros in total). Getting on a bus www.eurolines.com, would cost you 43 euros, but you need to get to Frankfurt, and leave there at 5.00 in the morning. This would mean getting to Frankfurt the day before. If you could travel during the weekend, you could get to the trainstation, and ask for a schönes wochende ticket, this will allow you to travel cheap during the weekend, but it would only include taking regional trains, so it won't be fast. And it would only get you to the border, there you would need another ticket for the Czech Republic.

I agree with Herbert, the best way to get to Prague from Cologne would be on GermanWings. The bus idea sounds like more of a hassle than it's worth for a savings of only about 25 euro.
I will be in Prague the days you are here, and would love to meet up. I will be working all day, so evenings are best. Sorry to hear about your delays. Hope the rest of the trip is smooth. Keep me posted, and we can definitely try to arrange something while you are here.
