I have to say, while I'm strictly a digital SLR girl, I do miss that anticipation of getting home and getting your pictures developed. Kind of like your trip is over but there is still something to look forward to. Seeing it instantly takes away that thrill!

true enough kim! however i have to say, seeing it on 4 cm screen doesn't compare to full size when you get home:)
question for all... normally when i travel in the uk i don't use a moneybelt or anything (habit i go there too often). i use an over the shoulder bag which is where i put my camera... when i'm in europe in sept, i will only have a day pack with me in the day... should i keep my camera out and around my neck (and look like a tourist?) or should i put it away all the time after each shot? just seems like it might get annoying... any thoughts?

DOM - does that mean you haul around a huge camera bag when you travel?

I have a pretty large camera backpack that I use. Very similar to the one Kim uses. If you are interested, use 'search' as they have been covered quite fully in earlier posts.

Doug, I should have been a bit more specific with my Post. I use MAC's exclusively at home but at work I'm forced to use those inferior Windows machines (thank goodness we have a 24/7 I.T. Helpline!). Since I'm familiar with using both types of OS, having MAC's at home is a decision based on first hand knowledge of both systems.
Again, I don't plan on ever buying a Windows machine; if I need to use Windows software, I can do so using an Emulator. However it will be interesting to see the capabilities of the next generation of MAC's, which will now be based on an Intel microprocessor.
Jules80, I will probably be taking the leap from digital P & S to dSLR sometime this year, so have been wrestling with the same problem -- what to do with the Camera when day touring. Looking like a tourist with lots of expensive Camera gear is a big invitation to local thieves! I'll probably wait until after I buy the Camera, Lenses & Flash before deciding on a strategy (I want to see how much room it uses in my Day pack).
The P & S and a small Film Camera are easy to carry in my Tilley Vest, so maybe it will be possible to at least carry the Lenses and Flash in the Vest? I'll still be using the P & S digital, as it's so easy to carry and is more likely to be close at hand for "unexpected" shots.
Cheers!!!

my digital is basically point and shoot (and pretty small) but as a girl, not something i can put in a pocket as my pants tend to be reasonably fitted (and no plans for a tilley vest)... so around my neck isn't so bad i guess... i tend to be fairly concious of my things when i'm travelling having grown up in a fairly big city (mtl... don't worry i don't consider quebec city to be a big city)... i dunno.... aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh too much to think about!
