What kind of camera should I bring? This is totally your choice. Many people on the board like using digital cameras because you don't have to buy expensive film. However, their are purists who still like the look and feel of a good 'ole 35mm camera.

What digital camera is good? Again, totaly subjective. The Nikon Coolpix is a favored series around here. They are good cameras, and most importantly, pretty cheap.

What about memory cards? If you go digital, ALWAYS make sure you have enough memory cards on you! They come in all shapes and sizes. How many you need depends on how you'll handle your pictures. Personally, I have several memory cards for my camera. If you don't really have the money for several cards, you can always go into almost any photo store and have your pictures burned to a CD. People that have done this say it's pretty cheap and easy (get 2 burned, keep one and send one home). You can get some memory cards pretty cheap at here: www.newegg.com

What about portable hard drives or IPods for images?Hey! This is supposed to be a cheap board! Really, not a lot of us have played with these yet. I know that a few people have tried using and IPod to store their photos, but they've had problems with them when they got home.

Why can't I just connect a USB cable from my camera to a computer in a cafe? Most cafe's prevent you from doing this. They are scared of viriuses (virii?) getting onto their networks. It's much easier burning to CD or bringing enough memory cards for your trip.

What about good 'ole 35mm film? Still widely available, just be careful when going through the airport with it! Don't EVER check your film! When going through security checks take all your film out of the bags and hand them to the security personnel to check by hand!
