Hey Eagle! Werfen has (according to Wikipedia) Eisriesenwelt (the biggest ice-cave in the world) and Burg Hohenwerfen (the medieval castle where the movie Where Eagles Dare was filmed). According to me as well, also the vulture/eagle-show that is staged there is a good one, and you can imagine that the setting for these shows are perfect. The castle and the caves are worth the trip. I think it takes somewhere between 40 minutes and hour to get there from Salzburg. Antwerpen I think is a little bit underestimated, and many parts of the town are not a looker. The big market at the center of town is a good startingpoint to start exploring the city, and maybe also the highlight of the city. There is a lively music and artscene in Antwerp, so keep an eye out for concerts and expositions.

I am still doing some planning and was wondering if anyone can help me out with a few questions.
How early I can make it down from Gimmelwald to Interlaken? There is a train that departs from Interlaken at 8am to Venice and I don’t know if I can make that in time. If I don’t make it, I have to wait until 3 PM and that train takes an additional 10 hours. *UPDATE* - I went ahead and moved some a couple dates around and will be in Interlaken for one night before going to Venice. So I wont have to worry about getting down from the mountain.
Is the best way from Mostar to Dubrovnik and Dubrovnik to Split via bus? I read that there is no train station in Dubrovnik, is this true?
I also need to get from Bled to Salzburg. Is "Lesce-Bled" the train station in Bled, Slovenia? I am pretty sure it is, but just want to confirm.

Hihi, I'm planning a trip to Munich and the Balkans in Apr/May, which is quite similar in route to the Balken leg in your itinerary. I've asked others who travelled in the area before and they agreed that pretty much the fastest way to get from Dubrovnik to Split without driving is by bus (which was what they also did on the Amazing Race). Lonely Planet also said that Lesce-Bled is the right train station to head to Salzburg, but it's a few km to the east of the lake, so you'll need a cab to get from Bled to the train station. Was thinking of whether I'll have time to stop by Salzburg as well, but it looks like my itinerary's packed.

Thanks Josh. I should have checked my Lonely Planet for the Bled station. I guess I should just make a bus reservation when I get there?
