Ryanair undervaluing something - who'da thunk it?!! news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7757971.stmI for one am glad the takeover bid didn't succeed, I just hope Aer Lingus can keep afloat and fend them off - they are the better choice between the two.

RyanAir may have lost this bid but I suspect they will try again, either with Aer Lingus or another carrier. As Jack mentioned they're interested in North American routes, and taking over another airline would be an easy way to get both the routes and the landing rights in this part of the world.
It will be interesting to see what their next move is?
Cheers!

I thought that landing rights in the North-America, should no longer be a problem for European airlines, since the new open-skies treaty was signed. (a year ago?)

Another interesting aspect of this situation is that an agreement was signed about a week ago between the Canadian government and the European airlines, allowing free access to Canadian routes. I'm not sure about the "details", but it sounds like it won't be long until European carriers will be operating in this area.
I'm don't think this applies to the U.S., but I'm sure they'll be looking at a similar agreement very shortly.
Cheers!
