Ok, So traveling to Europe for 78 days.. Starting in Germany and going to these countries (* means shorter visits), Netherlands*, Belguim*, France, Spain*, Italy, Greece, and Switz*. Ok, and we are going to Greece for about 26 days and have found it is alot cheaper on the Islands for hostels, we are looking to spend about 20 cdn dollars a night to save as much money as we can on the islands. It is two of us going and plan on going to deli's as much as possible and just trying to save money on hostels etc. We are buying a Eurail pass, and flying Rome to Athens, Athens back to Rome, a relatively cheap flight. If anyone can help us with the amount of money we will approx. need it would be great! I have calculated earlier that I would need around 9,000 Cdn without the cost of the plane ticket over. Any ideas? more/less?? Any help would be amazing!

bcooke96,
Could you clarify whether the $9000 amount is for one person or two?
That's only about €12 a night. I could be wrong, but I suspect it's going to be very difficult to find a Hostel in that price range. If you do manage to find one, it will probably be on the "dodgy" side.
As a general rule, you should allow about $100 per day for lodgings, food, local transportation and incidentals. This amount doesn't include air fares or Rail pass. Your budget of Cdn$9000 should therefore be enough, although it would be a good idea to pack at least one credit card along for "emergencies".
I'll have a closer look at your "budget questions" and post another note later if I have any further suggestions.
Cheers!

It is 9000 for one person, and the 20$ is just for the greek islands as we have seen some decent ones for that price maybe more like 30$.
