Bonjour from southern France,
This will just be another short update as I've just got limited time in the Net Cafe (also the Keyboard is a bit "difficult", to say the least!).
After leaving Paris, the group stopped at a number of places along the way for brief tours. Some of the sites visited were Chenonceau, gardens at Villandry, the prehistoric Caves at Rouffignon, Les Eyzies and the "martyr village" of Oradour sur Glane. After spending a few days in Chinon and the surrounding area, I'm now in Sarlat. The group went canoeing on the Dordogne river yesterday and I'm sure that will be a highlight for many.
It's market day here today (Saturday) so there are lots of little vegetable stalls set up in the streets. We depart tomorrow for Carcassone and eventually end in Nice. After the tour ends, I'll be heading into Italy for a week or so on my own.
Some of the locations I've stayed have provided free Wi-Fi or at least one computer in the Lobby, but here in the south the Net Cafes seem to be more prevalent. I've resisted travelling with a Laptop so far, but will probably consider at least a Netbook on future trips. The IPod Touch is fine for "light duty use" but it's somewhat awkward for normal use.
Cheers!

sapl,
In addition to the "keyboard issues", there are often only a few computers available in many Hotels. These are usually in high demand, so it can be difficult to get access at times.
I'll be shopping for a Netbook before my next trip, but that segment of the computer market is changing quite rapidly, so I want to wait for a bit to let this "settle down". Hopefully Apple will be introducing a Netbook in the near future!!!
Since my last post, I've visited Carcassonne and I'm now in Arles. Will be heading for Isle sur la Sorgue in morning and then eventually Nice. I'll provide some impressions when I return home.
Cheers!
