Yup! That's us, the SCA. We don't do "performances" as such, we just have events and demos that explain how medieval society was. It's quite a bit of fun and I've been involved with it for a few years.
The Viking era really interests me.

Interesting. I suppose I should go to one of their demonstrations (I think there's one coming up in the near future). They described their group as the "Shrike of Krakenfjord" or something like that?
I didn't know what else to call the demonstrations, that's why I put the word "performances" in quotation marks.
Yes, you should definitely head for "viking country", given your interest in the culture! I just bought the RS Scandinavia book recently, but haven't had much time to go through it yet.

I don't know the name for sure, but it is likely the "shire" of something or other. That's means it's a small-ish group. Still, it's quite a bit of fun.
My family is also from "viking country" with my mothers people being norweigan and my fathers finish. The place has always held an interest for me.
