Hey there, ;D Thanks for taking the time to read, and hopefully help I have just been given a round the world ticket! Lucky, i know! I am know trying to budget for a trip with a friend for the later half of 2010, around october or so for 4 or so weeks. Longer if i can afford... I am looking at visiting the uk, greek islands, italy, germany, spain and france... il go elsewhere if i have the money:) From what i can see, my budget seems fine (from what guides say ). I thought $10000 AUD for 4 or so weeks? It converts to approx $228 EUROS per day - I have my ticket to Europe, but i need to get from country to country by rail, boat etc. So this figure will include meals, accommadation, internal flights, boat, etc... all of that.. I just have the ticket to EUROPE I am not looking at staying in swank accommadation but not hostels. Average bed and breakfast type ( no share bathroom if poss ) average accommadation 3-4*... Any tips you have would be great. Thanking you all in advance: ) JEMIMA

Just as a ballpark figure, I would probably expect around 400-600 Euros for transport in 4 weeks if you are moving around every few days. This would be with some prebooked plane tickets, some prebooked train tickets, and local transport. If you don`t play in advance, I would probably expect about 50-100% more in total.
If you take care to save money, you could definitely go longer than 4 weeks. For the type of accommodation you are seeking, 40-60 Euros a day is possible if you investigate carefully, but if you are just booking things on the run without a lot of research, I would plan for more like 60-90 Euros for accommodation per day given your stated standards.
