Hey everyone. I'm having trouble finding hostels with availability in Munich for Sept. 17-21 (4 nights); I know this is opening weekend of Oktoberfest, but there has to be something, right? Also, I can't seem to even find any hostels listed for Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber; I will be there Sept. 15-17. All help is greatly appreciated.

I just posted details of accommodation in Munich in your Itinerary post, but for Rothenburg o d Tauber, try the Jugendherberge (Youth Hostel) at www.jugendherberge.de/jh/bayern/rothenburg/ If that doesn't suit, you will also find Pensions, B&Bs and budget hotels which will suit your purposes for 1-2 nights. |

jdposey,If you're interested only in Hostels in Rothenberg, the link that MTH provided is your best bet. You might also consider budget Hotels there also, as the cost may not be much higher. Also have a look at www.hihostels.com/dba/hostel022013.en.htm for another alternative. At this point, getting something in Munich during OktoberFest might be difficult. I checked the HI Hostel listings for that date, and they appear to be fully booked. You may have to consider looking in nearby towns as well, such as Augsburg. The Hostel there still appears to have availability, so that would be one option (but it would probably be a good idea to get something "locked down" fairly soon). The trip from Augsburg to Munich is only about 40 minutes. I didn't check other nearby towns. Good luck!
