So i have all my hostels booked for my 6 week europe trip.. except venice! I've looked all over the internet however all the places seem to be overpriced or simply bad. Does anyone have any suggestions for a hostel or other type of budget accommodation in Venice? My budget is up to 30 euro per night

Venice is typically a difficult city to hostel in. So you have several possibilities: * Consider a budget hotel or guesthouse. Sometimes the prices can be quite reasonable, although admittedly that's more of a winter thing. * Consider staying off the island. I have not tried this myself, and you will lose some advantages, but it's better than missing Venice. You could even stay in Padua (Padova) and take the train.

Your right, it definitely is difficult! The only one I kind of liked was "A Venice Fish" but it still doesn't seem great And I wouldn't have minded staying off the island but I only have two nights in Venice so I'd rather reduce the amount of time and money wasted on trains I was originally planning on spending 3 nights in Venice, but I think that I may just spend 2 nights there then move on to Verona for a night before heading to Cinque Terre However if you know of any particular budget guesthouses or hotels I'd love to hear about them

I stayed at the L'Imbarcadero hostel. Good location, as it is very close to the train station. It was one of my most expensive places to stay, at about 25 Euros a night (2 nights). I booked a bed in a 6 bed dorm and was placed in a single, as it was overbooked. Breakfast was provided, if I remember correctly it was eggs, toast, and coffee. Funny thing happened here, I put a scoop of sugar in my coffee and quickly found out it was in fact salt.

I looked at the hostel and it has received some great reviews and the pictures look nice. Unfortunately its a bit more expensive, around 35 euros but I may just stay here since its only for 2 nights and seems to be in a good location. Thanks so much for the feedback!

daisy,The others have provided some good suggestions. If you haven't yet made your booking, you could also have a look at www.hihostels.com/dba/hostels-Venice---Venezia-031001.en.htm (cost seems very reasonable and location good). For a budget Hotel in a great location close to Piazza San Marco, have a look at www.albergodoni.it/. This will cost a bit more than a Hostel, but it includes breakfast. The Hotel is located in an old building that used to be a Palace (as I recall). It's not luxurious, but the rooms are very comfortable. Happy travels!
