Hi guys,
I know this website is mostly for traveling, but I was hoping you all could help.
I got an internship in Berlin this summer for 3 months and I'm wondering about my finances. I've been told I'll pay about 400euro/month for my apartment and after that I'll have about 3,000 euro left over for food, drink, maybe some traveling, random expenses, etc.
Do you think that will be enough?
I sure hope so!

Berlin is pretty expensive but if you budget it out correctly I think you'll be fine. Within the first month you'll know exactly how much give you have with your budget. 3000 euros is quite a bit of cash though! That's per month right? Good luck on your internship!

Actually, Berlin is still fairly cheap in terms of transport (what is covered in a pass), rent, etc. Food can still be up there with the rest of Germany, but you can find great deals in certain areas if you're eating out (there's a Currywurst stand on every corner! ;D), and shopping at markets (when possible) will keep your costs down. Of course, eating in upmarket restaurants will "eat" into your monthy budget, but going out can be done cheaply, and there's something for everyone in Berlin. I think that you will make it with Euro3000, but you'll have to stick to your budget and make the most of the free things to do around the city. If you have a backup finance plan that's great, otherwise don't forget that living somewhere is always cheaper than simply visiting as a tourist as you can cook your own food and get to know the tricks of keeping costs down by asking colleagues and reading local papers, distributions, etc. Enjoy Berlin, it's an amazing city regardless of your budget.
