I'm wondering the same things. I'm not a student right now and am considering buying the youth card instead of the student card. From what i've been told, you get more discounts w/the student card. i'm still considering buying the ISYC though because i'll be gone for 3 mos., but not sure if it's really a big savings...is it? other than museums, where do you save?

The international youth card got me a discount on my flight. I bought my flight ticket through travel cuts and got a better price only because I bought a youth card at the same time. It also came in handy for museums and monuments. I think that there is more opportunity to save with an ISIC card though.

I think that it is worth it, plus it also doubles as a secondary photo i.d.

I'm not sure about this, but I have heard that you can still get the ISIC if you are under 26. You might want to check about that

only way to get the ISIC is if you're a full-time student, otherwise you have to get the ISYC (youth) card. From what I've been told, the ISYC doesn't have as many discounts as the ISIC card. I'm not sure about this, but I have heard that you can still get the ISIC if you are under 26. You might want to check about that

I can't think of many youth discounts at all, especially in the UK (this may be down to anti age discrimination laws and the profiteering nature of UK businesses ). Also, hardly any places will accept an ISIC card (or its equivalents) as photo ID as they are far too easy to forge.

It might be a good idea to check out www.yha.com.au - which is affiliated with hostels international. If you're planning on staying in hostels most of the time, you can get heaps of discounts just for having the HI card. Also, some hostels will charge extra just coz you don't have their card! ISTC has more discounts available than the IYTC, but it's worth getting the IYTC as it's not that expensive and you only have to use it a few times for it to pay off itself!
