Hi! So as you know, Jen's going to Europe! I'm slowly starting to plan and really want your advice, don't be shy!
So, Vienna, daytrips to Bratislava and I was wondering about Salzburg, is a daytrip doable, seeing as I get free lodging in Vienna?
So here is what I was thinking, any advice or things I'm missing?
Vienna Salzburg Venice Bologna Cinque Terra La Spezia San Gimignano Florence Pisa Siena Assisi Rome Naples Pompei Positano Capri
Oh and how the heck can I get back to Vienna, I'm not sure I can get an open ticket, so if you know of a cheap airline from Rome or other in Italy that goes to Vienna, PLEASE SAY!

By my reckoning you have a bare minimum of 30 days in this list. How long is your trip?

It's about that long! I'm in the planning stages! I'm well aware you cut and crop, so this is basics! Mostly concerned about my choice of cities, I'll worry later about the time I have since I don't have my exact plane ticket yet anyways, but it's about 30-35 days!
Thanks!

Ok so here is my update : These are the prices in Euros I got from Trenitalia for 2 people, this sounds too cheap to be true, PLEASE REASSURE ME!
Vienna - Venice Venice - Verona 1h30 6,1 Verona - Venice 1h30 6,1 Venice - Bologna 2 7,9 Bologna - La Spezia 3h30 16,12 La Spezia - Pisa 45 min 10,7 Pisa - Florence 1h15 5,1 Florence - Siena 1h45 5,6 Siena - Rome 3h 22,32 Rome - Naples 2h15 16,12 Naples - Pompei Pompei - Naples Naples - Capri
For region of Naples and Capri, I can't find the prices, but I guess it will be cheap because it is so close by!

Jen, I've just had a quick look and only have a few comments so far on your choice of cities.
-- If you're really intent on seeing Pisa, only plan on spending a few hours there to see the Leaning Tower or whatever. There's not much to see otherwise. -- With regard to your listing for La Spezia, I wasn't sure whether you were intending to stop there, or just going there to access the Cinque Terre? -- I wasn't sure about Bologna? What's the reason for stopping there? -- I think I'm fairly safe in saying that the consensus of opinion here is that Naples isn't really worth a visit (unless you have some specific reason for stopping there?). You have Positano on the list, or you could also stay in Sorrento and visit Pompeii from either of those locations.
As mentioned, I just had a quick look. I'd have to give this some thought. Hopefully Dustoffmom will stop by, as I'm sure she will have some excellent suggestions.
Cheers!!!

Jen, I think Youth stands for 26 and under. But you can double-check by emailing helpdesk@trenitalia.it . I remember that my total one-way adult fare for Venezia - Bologna - Firenze was less than 17 Euros. Train fares are cheap in Italy. If you want to be sure of your fares, just proceed almost all the way to the finish. I think your itinerary is a bit ambitious, but you have traveled before and know what speed you like. Remember that you can fly back to Bratislava too, because that's 1 hour away from Vienna (by bus or train?). SkyEurope flies to Bratislava from Rome and Venice and Milan, and Ryanair from Milan. See www.whichbudget.com . You might be able to find Naples if you enter Napoli. For Capri, I don't think you can get there by train, because it's an island. I think you take a hydrofoil or a ferry, but I haven't been there. And you know my general tip - if you want cheap, good accommodation that isn't hostels, start looking early for good deals (although you probably don't have to start yet ). With planning, you might be able to have double rooms all along the way for the same price as hostels.

Hi!
Well thanks Eagle and Willtravel!
So Eagle, don't worry about Pisa, only will transit on my way, cause i guess you gotta see it!
La Spezia is for Cinque Terre, I was told that was the place to take the train to, am I right?
I heard Bologna was worth the detour, it isn't?
I know about Naples, I figured that would be my base. Info on that region of italy on trenitalia is really difficult to find, Naples seems to be the only rather big city there. It would be possible to transit from Praiano or Positano to Capri and Pompei without stopping in Naples?
What is there to see in Sorrento and surroundings?
Willtravel:
I'm glad to find out fares are so cheap, but really disappointed in Raileurope.com, cause the prices aren't close to nearly the same!
I'm glad to have an opinion on my ambitiousness, may I ask what you think shouldn't be in my trip? I'd be happy to hear about it. When you're involved in a trip it's harder to decide than when you read about it! I have travelled, and travelled this way, but my boyfriend will join me, so I'm not sure it's a "my way" deal as he is probably not the same style traveller as I am, so trying to find a point in common, i'd love to hear what other travellers think!
I will check out SkyEurope! I don't know yet if I'll get an open ticket from the contest, but I don't want to exagerate my luck either so...we'll see!
Does anyone know how to get to Capri, where I can find info?
My bfriend and I have talked about little pensions instead of hostels when we can find for basically the same price!!
xoxoxoxox THANKS A LOT GUYS!
