this is an awesome sight. everything is very hepful I will be here till the last minute i leave to europe checking up and getting last minute info. OK, I am traveling this summer leaving on May 10 and returning August 23. I have been looking for flights to europe what are some inexpensive airlines or places to fly into? the cheapest I could find was USD1080 into Dublin. this is where I would like to fly into but it is not set in stone. Any help is appreciated thanks
It does seem like a steep price. At least from Boston, where I am, I can find flights for a couple of hundred dollars tops. Also keep in mind that you can't buy your flight ticket too far ahead of time unless you want to be paying full fare. Keep your eye on the internet and you'll probably see sales starting either in February or March. Maybe as early as Janurary, but not now. The price you'd be getting now is the full fare.
Also, no matter where you are - it would probably be better to take a flight into London then use a budget airline to get to Dublin. That could save you a bunch as well. But like David said, you can't buy too far in advance or you will have to pay a bundle.
David, I had to laugh at the HDTV format thing - my husband is trying to sell me on that right now and it's freaking outrageous!!
I want to fly out of tampa or orlando, FL. but the price for 1080USD was from continental? are there any good websites out there for student travel overseas that would guve me a better deal?
I assume you're travelling in May 2006 when you refer to "this summer"? My suggestion would be to talk to a travel agent as well as checking the net, as they can often find some good deals. They can also perhaps find you some good "open jaw" flights (if that's what you're interested in?).
If you are travelling in 2006, I believe most airlines don't post their schedules for the following year until about December or perhaps early in the New Year. The charters should be flying in May and they usually have better prices than the larger airlines (assuming you have charters in your area?).
You might also check flights into Heathrow, Gatwick or Manchester as there are LOTS of inexpensive flights to these destinations, especially with the charters. Once there it should be easy to get a cheap ticket using RyanAir or EasyJet to Dublin (you'd have to check their websites for approximate fares).
Good luck and hope this helps!
You have to have a dream so you can get up in the morning.
I bet that if you fly out of Atlanta, you could probably find a better deal. It's a cheap flight to Atlanta as well (my folks live there and they're at Disney World at least three times a year). I really do think you need to hold off on your flight planning and just wait around for the sales. Also check the travel section of clarkhoward.com . He is based out of Atlanta and the quotes that he has is kind of indicitave of travel from the east coast.
Yeah it would definitly be cheaper to fly in to london then take a budget airline to dublin thats what were doing when we leave in may....my flight ended up costing $610 CAD through zoom to fly from ottawa, ontario to london then were gonna take a budget airline to cork
