dude, if you go you will not be disappointed. they have a lot of cool things over there for backpackers and outdoors ppl. when i want to buy some pants i go there now due to the fact most of the pants are high quality and light-weight material. though they may cost a bit more they're worth the buy. let me know how things turn out. i might head there myself tomorrow around 5pm. gonna see if they have anything new and see my bf. have fun!!!

Patrick,
Thank you... my initial response is "don't feel sorry for me", but I think you probably don't mean it that way anyway.
What is your date of departure? Just curious!!

No, of course not! To be honest, I don't mind people talking about pretty much anything on these boards - except for heated political debates!

PS I'm 31 as well!

chua.. I went to the store on Wednesday... took me a little longer than I had anticipated to find it.. but it was amazing.. they had the backpack that I ordered online.. love it, but seeing it in person, I think it MAY be a little small... but they had all the Eagle Creek one could wish for.. lots of cool jackets... even fancy schmancy travel underwear... Once I decided what I need to take with me, I'll be returning to the store... OH yeah... and almost all the clothes are 20% off... wow!! Jo-jo: Departure date... roughly March 10 or so... not certain... I need to speak with a travel agent who can set up an open-jaw flight for me.. course, I really might not need one... if I start in Ireland (for St. Patty's Day)... then start down south and work my way up north... then I could just fly back out of London... but even this is getting to structured for me.. Kim... just so you know... you're my hero.

Patrick,
Well, we'll have to meet up... are you flying into London? I get there on March 13/06 - early am! I'll be staying in London for about a week and a half before I head off to India... yikes... let me know when you figure out your dates! We could end up with a pre-travel pint!
I'm not doing the "open-jaw" ticket as you call it... I found they were too expensive. I got a great price, picked a date and booked it. If for whatever reason, I have to forgo it, than I lose like $300 (Cdn)... not bad considering the other ticket was $900 each way... that is just way too much for me! Plus, on top of that I would have had to pay to change the date if I had wanted to. Figure it out both ways before you go for the open jaw ticket... just a thought!

hey pattrick! glad you enjoyed the store. it's just awesome to buy things there. also, check w/ the airline's website because sometimes they have cheaper flights than expedia or travelocity. my open jaw from orlando to london then rome back to orlando is about $650 US. its about $100 cheaper than those other sites. have fun dude!!

Departure date... 8 Mar 06.. landing at 7:35 AM on 9 Mar... which is 1:35 AM my time... I'm not even in BED before 1:35am... OY... <ponders ways to combat jet lag... aside from a cafiene IV> Jo.. I got my passport pics taken yesterday... and went to apply... but APPARENTLY, the post offices here require apointments... THUS, I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon... so, I'll be pitching in for the 'expedited' service... Anyhow... it shall be done.. Becuase my flight was cheaper a few days prior to my original planned departure date, I've decided to see London prior to hopping up to Ireland... so as long as I'm in Ireland around the 15th... I'll be good... So.. I've got a good week or so to see London and surrounding areas... plus, I think it will be a nice buffer area prior to zipping off to... oh.. say... Norway, or Germany... where I think culture shock might be a bit overwhelming for a novice like me... I'll slip into it easily... (in theory I'm sure I'll be updating in the next few weeks with last minute panic attacks and questions that nag at me when I sleep <side bar> For anyone who's planning a trip in the near future... Have you thought about visiting Torino.. (once the Olympics are over)... I think it could be interesting... any thoughts??

Patrick, I sure hope your Passport arrives in time! Under normal circumstances, it can take a week or more to obtain Passport renewals here (even with "expedited processing"). In my experience, normal Passport delivery takes about a month at the present time.
With regards to visiting Turin, it looks like an intersting spot. Hopefully they will have the construction finished by the time the Olympics start! We had a "feature report" on our News Hour tonight, and several of the facilities are a long way from being finished (even though construction is proceeding 24/7).
Happy travels!!!

I applied for the passport earlier this afternoon... Craig, the handy-dandy postal worker was really friendly... with the expedited service, Craig said that my passport will be delivered to me in 7-10 business days... which is WELL before my departure date... Eagle.. when I'm in Italy, I see no reason why I shouldn't stop in Torino.. I think it could be fun... I'll keep everyone posted Rchua... I'll be re-visiting the store we've spoken about very shortly to get some gear n such... Let me know who I need to flirt with to get a discount Oh... I just watched the movie "Eurotrip"... and though it's heavily exagerated, some of the stuff in the movie is HYSTERICAL... I haven't gone on my trip yet... but from the stuff I've read on this massage boards and by speaking with other travelers.... it made me giggle... I. Cant. WAIT.

I've wanted to visit Torino for a long time, because there seems to be much of interest there. I'd suggest taking a look at the Lonely Planet Piedmont guidebook, as it had lots of interesting stuff in and around Torino.
