It completely depends on what you're planning on seeing and how long you want to spend here. Most of the big museums (Imperial War, Science, Natural History, British etc) are free entry now, so consider that before you get anything.
Most charging places tend to be complete tourist traps, or really specialised places. Also, the discounts with those cards are normally bordering on pointless, so consider that too.

if you are a student, sometimes the discounts with the pass (which are normally for adults) is less than the student discount you already get. i looked into a similar thing for dublin and it was not worth it at all.

I did the London Pass thing my first trip to London.....it´s really not worth it. Most of the things you want to see are, as WT pointed out, already free and the transportation option with this 'seems' to be the best feature...but you can buy a day or week pass for just transportion and come out way ahead. My advice....get a metro/bus pass and pay as you go for anything else you might want to see. You would have to visit every obscure, out of the way museum in the city to make your money back on the LP. ging

Hey, I'm not WT . Getting a tube pass is pretty much the best thing though, failing that buy day travelcards. Whatever you do, don't get single tickets unless you're sure that you'll only be doing 1 tube journey - a single ticket is £3, whereas an offpeak day travelcard is £4.90 for zone 1 and 2.
