Okay, this will be my first time in Europe. A buddy and I will be there for about 2 - 2 1/2 weeks starting out in London. He wants to hit up the Guinness Beer factory and check out a few pubs in Ireland etc, this should be just for a few days. After that we aren't to sure where the best places/countries to see are. We want to see a good variety of different places and may just spend a day to a day and a half in each place (depending). We do have one place that we have to be and that's at the Tool concert in Prague on June 25th.
Any suggestions on where to go would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!

London isn't cheap. it might be better to visit London after you've done some low cost travel, learned how to travel on a budget.
Ireland is also high priced. among the highest in Eurozone, i've read.
if a brewery visit interests you, a place in Bohemia might also appeal: Ceské Budìjovice is where a famous pilsner type beer was first brewed. [this is South of Prague]
what else are you interested in?

Question: Is Prague also the last stop of your journey, or is it somewhere in the middle?
One place that is close to Prague and you shouldn't miss is Berlin.

Well I don't think we will spend too much time there in London. My buddy just moved over there about a month back (Air Force) so we will just go back to his house, hang out there overnight, grab his stuff and take off. I am taking enough cash for about 90-100 bucks (US) per day. I am going to try not to spend that much while I'm there, but I wanted to make sure I had enough cash to get around.
Well since this trip was just "brought up" a few days ago (my gf and I just seperated so this is my getting over her) we haven't really even thought about what type of places we want to see. I do know that we want to meet some good people, some good women, and have a general damn good time. We're pretty fun and spontaneous. We were talking about hitting up Amsterdam just because, well, it's Amsterdam haha. Any ideas are welcome, and that brewery idea sounds pretty good. We can go after the concert =)

No, Prague will be in the middle of our trip. We will be going (as of right now) from June 15th to July 3rd. Yeah, Berlin was tossed around a few times. I hear that the women there are absolutely gorgeous and the people are very pleasent. A co-worker of mine lived throughout Europe (Military kiddo) as a kid and said she always enjoyed Germany.

D'oh! Vienna is even closer than Berlin. One place that is close to Prague and you shouldn't miss is Berlin. And Vienna is even more beautiful I might add. So maybe it is an idea to go from Amsterdam to Berlin to Prague (for the gig) do the brewery tour) and go to Vienna (and maybe even go further East to Bratislawa and/or Budapest, or going south-west towards Italy. Depending on your other interests you can put in some other places (like Dresden)

Maybe we could get one of those open-jaw flights so we can take off from there. . . .

We did the Heinkin brewery tour in Amsterdam which was pretty cool and if I remember fairly cheap ;D. Included in the entry price was a good few pints of lager and a free glass. I am always tempted by a free gift

2.5 weeks is not a lot of time. i'd suggest picking 3 maybe 4 cities and leaving it at that. london is a fabulous city and deserves a few days... especially as you have somewhere to stay. dublin is great too! guiness factory is awsome! jameson distillery is also highly recommended. fly dublin to prague or other nearby city. vienna is supposed to be awsome as is budapest. if you book relatively soon you should be able to get some pretty cheap flights which will definately be the way to go for such a short time.

I also did the heineken brewery tour and enjoyed it!! the beer sure tastes different there I agree with my dear friend jules though, you have little time so you'll need to be more focused on the cities you deff want to visit. Otherwise you will be going for one place to the next like a crazy person

Well my buddy backed down from going, but luckily I had a couple of backups! Here is what they are suggesting (eesh!). Is it possible with only 12 days? Leave Dallas TX roundtrip to Amsterdam, Netherlands. - 825 dollars roundtrip > I studied this map and here are cities I think we should visit, look at the map and tell me where you all want to go and how you would like to divide up the days. www.europeetravel.com/maps/europe-map-political.htm> Looking at this map, here is what I think we should do, tell me your input also: > A complete loop on the EURO-RAIL takes us from Amsterdamn, Netherlands to Coppenhagan, Denmark then to Berlin Germany then to Prague, then to Vienna, Austria, then to Zurich, Switzerland then finally to Paris France....back to amsterdam to fly back. >

hi, Dig, having been to Zürich a few times <because it's the southernmost place in Europe with non-stop flights from Dallas, my hometown> i must say that i see its downside: it's in Switzerland, which means it's way overpriced! and, aside from a pleasant lake & and an interesting historical Calvinist catheral, it isn't that interesting. frankly, other places are more interesting and MUCH cheaper! from Vienna, one idea might be Innsbruck, with its beautiful mountains & town. right now, i see www.SkyEurope.com has flights from Innsbruck to Paris for €74 per person, including tax.
