Im leaving in 7 months, Im starting to keep my eye out for plane tickets. Does anyone have any advice as to when and where to buy them. Im a student and I have tryed multiple student discount sites but they are not anything but maybe 30$ cheaper on a 800$ ticket. What I think Im going to do is just wait untile about 1 month out and try priceline where you bid your own price. Im guessing I will start bidding at 600$. What do you guys think? Im open to what ever ya got!!

I won't say it's impossible you'll do better with Priceline for plane tickets, but I wouldn't count on it. And if you get a Priceline ticket, it is totally non-changeable and non-cancellable, whereas you might get different terms with a ticket you buy directly.
I'd say learn all the ways to look for cheap tickets, and practice them regularly. Most likely you can do better than with Priceline.
What is your home airport, and where do you want to go? Are you flexible on these points to get a cheaper ticket? When is your planned trip?

I wouldn't buy from Priceline. The ticket details are usually extremely inconvenient and it's often with a crappy airline (i.e. Air India).
What city do you live in? Maybe we can help you?
