Just found this on one of my movie sites. This is the official press release for it:
"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" producer Mike Fleiss is partnering with helmer Eli Roth on the horror pic "Hostel" at Screen Gems. Jay Hernandez is in final talks to topline. Shooting starts this month.
Pic's plot is being kept under tight wraps, but Hernandez will star as a traveler abroad.
Idea for the project was hatched by Fleiss and his Next Entertainment partner Chris Briggs, who brought the concept to Roth. They further developed it together, resulting in a spec by Roth, which was set up at Screen Gems as a negative pickup.
Fleiss, Briggs and Roth will produce the film; Boaz Yakin and Scott Spiegel, Roth's partners at his Raw Nerve production shingle, exec produce.
Fleiss is producing "The Poseidon Adventure" for director Wolfgang Petersen at Warners and is at work on a prequel to "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" at New Line.
Roth directed, produced and co-wrote "Cabin Fever" for Lions Gate.
Though it doesn't say it, yes, this is a horror movie about a group of backpackers getting picked off one by one in an evil hostel. No idea where the hostel is though.
