Hi Guys!
well, seems i'm staying in the country this summer for my vacation!
My german "family" are flying into Nova Scotia and have rented a house on the Cabot trail. They've invited me over for a few days.
I would love to visit them and see Nova Scotia, where I have never been.
I don't think I'll have a car handy so I was thinking of backpacking it basically.
Anyone have infos on this, where to go, what to see, transportation in N.V.?
I've checked sites out for the touristy part, but as for the travel part, I can't find much!
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

First the good news! You will be visiting my neck of the woods and I'll do whatever I can to help you prepare for your trip. The Cabot Trail is magnificent (IMHO) and a great place to spend your vacation. But it's my home so I am biased.
Now the bad news. There is almost no public transportation in the northern part of Cape Breton Island (The Cabot Trail included). The nearest you could get would be to use the Acadian Lines bus to Baddeck. Depending on where your friends are staying, that could still be a 2 or 3 hour drive away from them.
Do you want to visit other parts of the Province or just Cape Breton? Halifax is easy to get too and the public transit is great. Getting out into the rural areas would require a rental car. There are, however, two hostels in Halifax and one is right down town.
Are there any questions you have in particular?

Hahah cool links!
I read your reply like this:
Ah shit, no transportation...
Ah, not so bad, we'll use our car I guess...
Biking, now that's a good idea!
Euh no question after I saw the links, NEVER! hehehe
