You know how it was so dumb that we Canadians couldn't pay for ad-free with our credit cards? A friend suggested something and it worked!!
All I had to do was phone up Mastercard and get them to add a US address as an alternate address (just used a friends).
That's all it took! It was driving me nuts, I knew there was a way around it - I'm stubborn when it comes to this stuff!

You can also use something like this:
Your Name c/o General Delivery Blaine, WA 98230
(I used Blaine, Washington in the example above because that's the border town that is closest to me. If someone sent me mail there, and I knew about it, I could theoretically go and pick it up there, so it's a real address. But you can do the same for any US town or city. American Express is fine with using this as the address for the credit card, as I asked them about this before.)

This is exactly the approach I was going to use, but I've been "tied up" with work and other committments for the last week or so and haven't been able to try it. I also wanted to get "permission" from those in the U.S. whose address I was going to use, and I haven't received that yet. I'm glad to see this method works, so I'll make a donation shortly.
Ging, didn't know your were moving? Did you decide to move closer to Lizzy after all, or have you decided to do some more travelling?
Cheers all!
