This is a fairly random thing to post but I feel Kim and co need to know how much they are appreciated ;D. I was unfaithful to this site and decided to check out another well known travel message board (they will remain nameless because I am not posting to bash other sites). I couldn't believe how unfriendly and sharp they were with new posters. It made me feel like I didn't want to post anything for fear of getting mocked. On this site I have found everyone appreciates other people's contributions and no-one is knocked for their opinions. New posters are warmly welcomed and their questions are answered in a warm and pleasent manner. I can't believe how people go out of their way to check things like routes, timetables and costs to help other people out as well as sharing their own valuable observations and experiences. As I said perhaps a little random to post but I just wanted to say to all the GFE regulars give yourselves a big pat on the back for making this a friendly informative and general GREAT travel site for everyone ;D Keep up the good work Shelley.

That is so nice to hear, really appreciate it. I always think of all us as as a community - I would hate it if people couldn't ask questions or felt weird about posting. I'm sure I asked some pretty odd questions before my trip!
I couldn't run GFE without the help of the mods and regulars, I will never be able to express to them how much I am grateful to them! They take so much of their time and put it into GFE. Answering questions, research and recently Doug has put sooo many hours into a new section we are working on (as I couldn't do it if I tried!!)
Anyway, hanks for taking the time to post that and we are glad you are sticking around with us! (No more unfaithfulness - you are a GFE girl! LOL)

I most certainly agree with Crystal and the others! This site is wonderfully friendly and helpful and I think we all benefit from that. I credit the atmosphere to the efforts of the Mod's as well as the general attitude of most that participate here.
I sometimes "lurk" on other boards, but this is the one I enjoy the most. Not sure which one Crystal was referring to - several possibilities come to mind? There are a few other "Euro" boards as well as travel boards with a wider focus, so it's difficult to "pin down".
Kim, let me be the first to congratulate you on 2000 members - we're not there yet, but I have a feeling it won't be long! Well done!!!
Hope everyone is having a fantastic summer. Cheers!!!

None that you should avoid, but some that you should be wary of. Like, we don't allow outright ads unless they contact us about it first, then we look into it and see it's something worthwhile and we allow them to post it. Other sites are nothing BUT ads, who don't always offer what they advertise.
