I have friends who studied in Prague and all marveled at how much cheaper things were there. But this was a few years ago. I wonder if that's still the case now that the Czech Republic is part of the EU?
Does anyone know by experience or networking stories?

Prices have gone up, but this has been more of a gradual thing since the fall of Communism. Generally I found that whilst stuff was cheaper than Western Europe it wasn't spectacularly cheap compared to the likes of Spain (although it was a lot cheaper than the UK). The only exception is beer though, at US$0.75ish for half a litre of good quality pilsner (stuff like Budvar/Pilsner Urquell).

Post a note to Big Ray in his own forum about this...he lives there and will be able to fully answer this costs question 'with authority'.
