Helloo,
Just a quick question. Will 100 EU (160 AUS) be enough a day? I am going January-February next year.
I'm going to London, Paris, Munich, Vienna, Venice, Florence and Rome.
I don't know if I am keen on bunking with 20 other people, so I am hoping for either to share with a smaller group of people or private twin - provided it is cheap. What is the average amount that a hostel costs? They appear to be more expensive in Paris.
I don't always eat that much; buying cheap things from supermarkets is not a problem... I can get by with 1 apples, a salad roll and a packet of Pretzels a day in Australia. How much do you think I would spend on food each day?

I'm here right now and pretty much staying at or under 100 euros a day. And I too am not a hostel person so 'hotel' it along. Clean, nice budget hotels can be had nearly everywhere for 30-50 range, some places a bit more, some a bit less. I eat breakfast and am never hungry for lunch. I always have a #nice# dinner someplace, normally in the 15 euro range with a drink or two. Add to that museum entrance fees, odds and ends at the store, whatever.....100 will do you quite nicely. Actually, while I was determined to at least #try# a hostel this trip, thus far the singles in the hostels are actually MORE than a budget hotel!

€100/day should be enough to have a comfortable trip. Look at hostels with 4-6 bed dorms if you don't want a huge one (tbh, about 8 is the most I'd do now, it's not worth saving a couple of € and sharing with 20 odd).
In terms of food, if you were to get stuff from supermarkets, bakeries etc I'd say €10 a day as a minimum. Of course, more is always good though.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not really a 'party' person or into rowdy groups of people. That's why I'd prefer a more quiet space. So, $100 EU seems to be a nice budget by the sounds of it.
