I think that's enough if you're sticking to a budget and know the daily limit for spending

i'd caution you about this buget. i hope you have access to "emergency" funds, if you need them.
in expensive places, you may well be short.
first, don't think in CN$. think in Euro. [other than things you buy with CN$: transatlantic air tix & rail pass, CN$1600]
6500 - 1600 = CN$4900, that's €3170. only about €45/day! nearly half of that will go for a hostel bed. can you make it on the rest?

By the way, I think 1000 is a lot of money for a Round Trip flight. You said you're flying out of Canada. Have you considered Zoom Airlines? You can save money by flying into one city and flying out of another without any of the exorbant charges.

Take a look at Zoom's flights from Vancouver to Paris. I notice the UK is not on your agenda, so you might not be interested in the cheap flights to the UK, although those might be worth it if the price is low enough.
Several times I've flown from Seattle to Europe, because I got a much better deal that way, even considering the price of the shuttle bus (I use the Entertainment Book 50% off the QuickShuttle coupon) and the airport hotel the night before (I use Priceline).
If you have exact flights in mind, $1000 might not be enough. If you're very flexible, you can probably do better.
