So, I'm guessing this is the right place to post this...
I'm planning on taking a trip to Portugal in February, and while that is still half a year away - it's something for me to look forward to... and I'm a planner, so I like to plan way in advance. ;D
In any case, I'll be going February 16th - February 28th (or March 1st, 2nd... whichever, I don't really have to be back by a certain date, except to return to school) Because I've never actually been to Portugal... I'd like to get some advice from who has been there already. Am I trying to do too much? Should I focus more attention on one city than the other?
The plan is to fly from Toronto to Lisbon. Stay for about 4-5 days then make my way up to Coimbra. I'd spend 3 or so days there and then go to Porto. And there... I'd spend another 3-4 days and back to Lisbon from where I'd fly back to Toronto. I'd buy a Portuguese Rail Pass which would give me 4 days in 15 days... and that would be just perfect. I checked the Portuguese Railway for lines and the like - and the Lisbon-Coimbra-Porto is quite an easy line indeed. I also saw that there is a cheap urban train from Porto to Braga. Would Braga be worth going to for perhaps a day trip or something, or should I just stay in Porto?
Originally I would have loved to go south into Algarve too. I tried to cram it all in, but realized that it just wouldn't happen in 2 weeks. I'm still thinking that 3 cities is too much in two weeks... especially since I really like to get to know a city. Ah, I wish I had more time...
