I haven't seen where this has been discussed...how do you keep your film organized? I've heard of keeping it in ziplock bags(without the film canisters), but how do you keep exposed film seperate from unexposed? Also, I will be putting all my film in my carry-on, and hopefully they can hand inspect it. In case they won't hand inspect it, has anyone's film ever been damaged going through the x-rays for carry on bags? I was planning on taking all the film I would need with me, but mom says someone told her it was cheap in Europe. What do you all think of that?
So...give me advice on film, if you would! Thanks!

I believe someone posted something about a certain type of Fuji film being damaged in x-ray machines at the airport. Can't find that post though.
Besides that, not sure on tips for 35mm film storage. I've gone the digital route.

I personally always bring my film with me, I like knowing that I have the brands I like etc. Just my little quirk. Not too much is cheap in Europe so I guess it depends where you live. The cheapest place to buy it is at Costco or one of the big warehouse places.
As far as keeping the rolls straight, this is what I do. Before I go, I put a label on each of the canisters. When I am finished a roll, I mark what I took photos of on that roll. The canisters with nothing on them are new rolls, the finished ones are labeled.
I've never had any film damaged going through X-Rays, although I do usually use an X-Ray proof pouch. You can pick one up at any camera store.

wow, thanks for all the advice. I like the idea of labeling each canister. I work at Costco, so I guess I'll be buying film there Thanks again.

I have a question that I think goes with this train of thought: when you've finished a few rolls of film you just carry them along with you for the rest of the trip or should send a few home every now and then? Like that if you ever loose or pack or have it stolen you won't loose all the pictures you've taken (wich I think are the best souvenirs) or would it all be a big hassle?

You could send it home every now and then, but then you have the possibility of having it lost in the mail.
Either way is a risk...
I always kept my finished rolls locked inside my big backpack at the hostel during the day while I took my daypack out. I think your daypack is more likely to get stolen as it's with you out during the day.
If it's a hostel you are really sketchy with, you could lock your pack to your bed with a cable lock then lock all the zippers. I always locked all the zippers on my daypack and large pack at all time.
